Hi Mike Thei 843’s have arrived and I’ve fitted them together with the new jack socket. Must say on first hearing I prefer the original but I’ll running them in for a day or so the let my friend decide. This is a first impression so no doubt it will change when they burn in. All the best Marin

Hi Mike, Yes it was one of those in the first pix. I’ve tried the GD Audio bits in the amp but because it’s an original kit getting them in is a bit of a dogs breakfast.. Thanks for the quick shipping Mike I’ll let you know when it arrives All the best Martin

Hi Mike, Thanks sent you a payment. No worries about the OPA111BM it’ll be adapter on adapter on adapter so I’ll give it a miss, but if you have any reasonable uncounted amps I have a few dual to single sockets that I can mount a pair on. All the best Martin

Hi Mike, Yes I’ll take a couple of the 843’s on the brown dog for my friends heed canamp.. The OPA111bm were the opamps I thought you had on sale. I was going to use them in the old chaira ha, the two round opamps in metal cans on a converter. I seem to remember when you built one a while back you liked them and they fit the amp without mods I think.. Anyway if you have a pair set up for the JLH ha amp let me know the price and you can add it to the invoice All the best Martin

Hi Mike, Resists are the 12wat Mills already PSU caps are either 12000 or 15000uf but amp back at his house now and I can not remember what I fitted for him but any suggestions for bp caps appreciated, thanks. I’ll ask him if he wants the op amps, but sounds good to me. I wouldn’t mind a pair of the OPA11’s you have for my old LNH ha. Old old original kit from way back. So I’ll hang fire and hopefully get both together and save on postage for you. Thanks for the offer Mike I’ll get back to you asap All the best Martin

Have you got a price Mike and I’ll let him know. Trust there’s room for them without removing any of the caps, the circuit print is a bit frail around there especially on the led. Which is what I am renewing now. Take it not worth bypassing the psu caps tho? All the best Martin

Hi all,
Re entry modded a new (ish) version of the can amp for a friend re the mods on here as advised by Mike The amp has the larger16va transformer and the new finned heatsinks fitted as standard. Any one any thoughts on bypassing the four psu caps, if so what value and type ........ Wima's? Also any advantage in changing to op amp, it’s got a NE 5532P fitted at the mo Your thoughts or advice would be appreciated Thanks Martin

Hi: For any that are building the AKHA headphone amplifier, there is another part that has been discontinued. Checked Mouser & they only had 2ea. of the SF 14 Diode that is used on the AKHA amplifier card & 4ea. are used in each power supply. I was able to get 100 of them on ebay, at the right price. If you have the pcb's & dual transistors better get busy w your build as thru hole parts are starting to disappear. You have had fair warning! Hi Videoguy, The AKHA is still on the bench (together with the Marsh HA) I’m afraid, but I have all the bits. Thanks for the info as I said I have a few sf14s but I checked out suppliers and all at silly prices. However Radio Spares have sf16s at a very reasonable price. Basically same diode but a bit larger piv. So if anyone is stuck they’ll do I’m thinking. All the best Martin

Hi durdepa
The vd1 is the switch on delay diode directly behind the relay, mine had a small mark on one end which is the end nearest the switch check orientation on the circuit diagram. Try placing all the other diode and the one left is vd1, no part number on mine either but it’s only a diode marked as ds1 in the circuit diagram in this thread.
Hope that helps sorts things out for you
All the best Martin

Does anyone have some clear pics of the ebay beyerdynamic A2 clone headphone amp diy kit showing assembly and parts placement ? As others have said you can figure out most of it by process of elimination but the bc556 and bc 546 and some other stuff is a mystery. It looks like q3-q6 on the board but who is whom? There is a previous post with pics but is says images link broke. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Durdepa Not sure what the q3-6 are but the bc trannies are from the front (Vol controller head sockets end) BC556 BC546 BC556 BC546 these were marked on my board and if you look at the print on the board it will give you the correct orientation if you keep the shape of the tranny to the shape on the board. The flat on the 556s facing the heatsinks and the flat on the 546 facing away from the sinks The associated tranies on heat sinks are BD139 BD140 BD139 BD140 again from front to back If the links are broken here go over to Diyaudio site there’s a thread on there with pix Don’t expect too much, it’s ok but for a few pounds more a second hand Heed Can will be miles better Hope that helps Martin

Hello! After trying everything to eliminate a hum on my Little Dot MK III, I'd like to open it and have a look at the board. Can someone give me or show me where to find some instructions on how to do this safely? Thanks... Hi, Not sure about your question as I’ve never played with one of theses, but if you head over to head fi site there’s lots of stuff there some may be of help All the best Martin

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the caps, they arrived today. The RS bits and the HiFi Collective bits also came today so either this weekend or next I’ll get his Heed moded and post some pix for you. May even pop a couple of heat sinks on for him if I can find my old box of bits.
All the best, Martin

Hi Mike, The snap in capacitors won't fit in this version of the CanAmp....... modern capacitors come in smaller packages so my recommendation of through hole capacitor for your friend's CanAmp is this: uk.rs-online.com/web/p/aluminium-capacitors/7395276/ that will do the job very nicely! I have plenty of ELNA Silmicll 100uF / 35V in stock... they are £1 each and shipping will be £1.50 Hope this helps, Mike. . Thank Mike I’ll take a couple of those if you invoice me I’ll PayPal you. Also if you think a couple of bypass caps for the big 1500uF’s (just ordered from RS) will help add them to the order I have some fancy fast diodes but was not going to change them. Keeping things simple just a caps/resistor upgrade for him. He can play with the chips afterwards. Ordered the othe caps from RS today All the best Martin

Hi Mike, A friend has just brought his heedcan around for me to have a listen to and I showed him this thread. It’s the newer version with the larger 16va trany in it and the different heatsink, also a lot more room around the bits as you can see from the pix. He’s asked me to mod it for him (doesn’t trust his solder skills). I’ve sourced the Mills resist and the Muse caps (only 85deg ones). I can not find the Silmic 2s just Silmic RFA again 85deg are these the same as the Silmic 2s? If not have you any 2’s in stock? I also need a pair of Samwha 15000’s if you have any Thanks Martin www.dropbox.com/s/roheh6tbegk9y5p/Photo%2016-03-2018%2C%2010%2030%2058.jpg?dl=0PS seems it won’t load image from drop box Any got any advice please?

Hi, Someone just bought one of these on FleeBay for £75 plus another 6.50 postage. Seems a bit pricey for an unmodded, untested one, especially as the bits needed according to this thread are not cheap. Plenty of space to get inside tho as Mike says. A friend has on in his broken box may get it out and have a play Martin

Hi Mike ,
Well the Peruvian goat fur is out as I'm told Micheal Bentine ate the last one, but some sheeps wool would be a great help. So yes please send me enough for two cups, I have the plasticine.
I use that EvoStick flash banding on my shed roof to seal the felt joints and to patch a few leaks on the house roof too, so have some left. Useful, stuf. Think I'll just try the wool and plasticine first tho.
Did you cover the vents on your phones or just use wool and plasticine?
If you want my address let me know Looking forward to trying theses when they are modded
All the best Martin

Hi All,
Has anyone got any spare bits of AcoustiPack left over? I've been given a pair of RP 50s for Christmas and wanted to mod them but didn't want to buy a whole sheet of the stuff
Regards And happy new year
