Hi Mike I've updated the image links, hopefully they're visable now Wow.... I can see the schematic but can't make out any of the values with my old eyes I trust you can actually make the values out on the paper schematic? Let us know how you get on with it Bob, it sure does look nice but putting it together may be a tad annoying if you can't read the schematic Best regards. Mike.

Hi All I've just bought one of these kits from an Ebay seller in China and I am intending to build it over the next week or two Supposedly - "inspired" by the BD A2 Amp It's been a while since I built something like this - the last one was the famous Panda amp as featured on these forums a while ago Build instructions are non-existent, the only paperwork was a badly photocopied schematic If there's any interest I will update with progress and pictures and maybe even loan it out if members are interested in hearing it. Hi Bob, The images / links aren't showing up so I can't see the amp you're talking about. Any fresh input here is most welcome, I look forward to your findings. best regards, Mike.

It turned out to be a loose cable with the mower, the clamp nut wasn't tight enough. Damned simple fix but I just didn't see it until AFTER I changed the plug, air filter, oil and had the carburettor in bits. Tightened it up, one pull on the cord and VROOM! Cost me £500 a couple of years ago and has never been right / always a b+++++d to start so that has been the problem all along..... a loose nut!!! Anyhoo almost ready to get personal with the Orange Discrete opamp (am looking forward to it) I just need to decide whether to use either a Marantz CD17ki sig CDP or Marantz CD63 ki sig CDP or just use the computer as source / lossless files through a DAC. I'll probably go down the CD player as source route, it would be nice and "old school" to give the CD players an airing I've got quite a lot of headphones at my disposal but have found the modded Fostex TR50P extremely good for homing in on detail / minutiae, especially now they've bedded in out in the workshop for a couple of years..... they really are superb for homing in on macro detail and just the type of headphone you need when evaluating opamps side by side. You don't want coloured 'phones like the Senn HD600, you want a pair of 'phones that will take you right into the mix / warts and all. My particular pair of Fostex TR50P with plasticine / sheep's wool and OFC cable mods can be seen here: rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/8832/fostex-t50rp?page=14The cable I used on the Fostex headphones was Evolution OFC pro (the red stuff) so I decided to make up a A/B comparison Y lead from the same stuff to preserve cable synergy..... both exact same length / same type of cable and same connectors so, the entire opamp comparison rig should be "pretty much" close per amp considering the transistors are all matched, the pots are matched and even the capacitors were matched IIRC! One source input into two "matched" switchable amps.....I'll let you know how it goes as soon as the games commence...... I've yet to fix both pots at the exact same level but that's a piece of cake considering both pots are hand matched per side. The easiest part is listening to the music, the part that has been bugging me most is making sure that the comparisons between opamp one and opamp two are as "accurate" as they can be given the resources I have able to me..... the flick of a switch is a lot better than physically changing opamps between evaluation sessions as you don't have the memory effect, you simply "flick" between opamps and listen to your reference tracks over and over again...... actually, choosing just ONE reference track and listening to it over and over again is sometimes more insightful than pulling out your entire collection. I hope to hook everything up in the next few days (most likely this weekend) and have an opamp session like I used to a few years ago..... totally immersed and part of the music / musical experience....... looking forward to it! BTW, the Project Dual amp will be back in its enclosure when auditioning the opamps, I won't be revieweing them in a naked / unshielded amp.

I would ask that this thread is brought to an end now. I'm happy that RG allows off-topic (ie non-audio) threads but I've had enough of this one. Politics is a risky subject; fun and enlightening maybe if there is 'debate', but this 'my way is the only true way' is hard to swallow in the context of a Hi-Fi discussion forum. I am here for entertainment and not to witness political posturing. Or is that just me? If it is just me then I'll take a break again. Agreed. Locked.

OK.... Martin has it first martin, PM me your details and I'll get that in the post for you mate. My review has been put back a few days thanks to a lawnmower that wouldn't fire up and all sorts of "spring" outdoor contraptions that have decided to go tits up........ grass cutting really is a total waste of time and it eats into the time you have available to do other things. Car MOT due on Thursday so I'm going over it with a fine toothcombe. I've made a start though............ OK.... the amp I have chosen to perform my opamp comparison is my trusty project Head Box amp (Serial number 008) The reason I have decided to go with the Project Head Box is quite simple...... the Project head Box has TWO identical / separate amplifiers in the one enclosure. This makes A/B comparisons as simple as switching a switch but just to make sure it's damned accurate I hand matched two perfectly matched potentiometers out of 49 and hand matched precision "matched" transistors per side (per amp)........ This is as close to perfect as you can get without quibbling about minor things like topology / switch accuracy per channel yada yada etc. etc. To my ears (listening to same batch OPA2132P opamps) both amps sound identical with db per channel identical so, as far as I'm concerned, a damned good / accurate way (as accurate as you can get) to do a switchable AB comparo without losing memory effect..... the switch over from amp A to amp B is INSTANT. The Project Head Box is not my reference amp but it is my reference amp when I need to evaluate opamps. I have fine tuned both amps inside (transistors / precision resistors / matched pots) over the years and I know how accurate this tool now is to me, it's also indispensable......... no other like it on planet Earth could replace it for me. Here is what I will be auditioning / reviewing / comparing to other chips with:

I can't stand Nicola Sturgeon, I don't think she's right for Scotland, I don't like her policies. I don't class all of her supporters as "idiots" however.... they are free to choose in what they believe, that's called freedom and democracy I believe?
There's only one fascist here Dale and that appears to be you. Anybody who doesn't agree with your opinion you call them brainwashed idiots / not capable of thinking for themselves.
I too am not going to reply to any more of your posts on this matter as you clearly have your mind made up that donald Trump is the saviour and everybody who disagrees are idiots.
If you actually READ any of my posts you will understand that I like Donald Trump, I don't hate him, but you obviously didn't read them and only homed in on certain parts..... that's known as cherry picking sentences to win an argument, a very shallow way of discussing things and, hey, just what the media (the people YOU hate) do every day.
I hate nobody Dale..... life is too short to waste your time tormenting your mind with hate..... everybody has a good side and I prefer to look for that than "hate" what I can't see.
I have NEVER bought a newspaper in my life / I mute adverts on the TV and I very seldom watch the "news" so you can rest assured that I have not been brainwashed by the "media".
Anyhoo..... enough typing wasted on this already...... I'm not that interested in UK politics, let alone US politics!

I can't comment on anything "God" related Dale as I think religion is outdated voodo originally introduced to keep the peasants under the "fear of God" kosh. It's a load of codswallop and ALL religions should be banned and all places of worship should be bulldozed. It's 2017 and none of that garbage is relevant in 2017. Money and greed are the new bible and we all look to people like Donald Trump and want to be "rich and greedy" like him..... dodging tax, groping women, standing on anybody who get in our way to riches and thinking about our own self only.
That's the way of the world these days..... that's what most aspire to. I, quite frankly, don't know ANYBODY who goes to church (apart from priests) these days..... most people are flocking to the American global burger joints / the supermarkets / the major out of town sheds etc. They are the new temples and the sound of the tills going "peep peep peep" is the sound of the new Gods getting richer by the second.
Everything used to be closed in the UK on a Sunday but since the advent of American globalization, everywhere is open for business 24/7/365..... there is no day of rest any more, the tills are powered up 24/7/365 in order to fully satisfy capitalist greed. If Trump, as you reckon, was a true Christian you would think he would shut down his gambling joints (Casinos) on a Sunday wouldn't you? It would give his addicted gamblers a day off to attend church to atone for their sins and have a day of rest from their ungodly gambling habit.
Donald Trump, a Christian you say?
Mark 8:36 (NKJV), "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"
Luke 12:15 (NKJV), "And He said to them, 'Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.'”
The 10th Commandment
Commandment number ten found in Exodus 20:17 talks about coveting which is the root of many of our problems. What is one of the reasons that people gamble and play the lottery?
They covet money, which they hope to make in a quick and easy way. 1 Timothy 6:10 declares that "the love of money is the root of all evil." Therefore, the enticement of gambling and playing the lottery comes under these texts. But there is more. God has given to each person certain talents, which includes time, money, and influence. God is going to have each person give an account of how their talents were used. If talents are wasted and dissipated, often the indulgent ones are not the only ones who pay the price. Families often must go without basic necessities because of one member's addiction.
Christ says in Matthew 6:21, "where your treasure is there will your heart be also." For those who engage in this traffic, money is the mutilator. In the parable Jesus told of the rich farmer. He condemned him for saying how rich he was and that he would tear down his barns and build larger ones. You recall that the story ends with the man dying that very night. With that in mind, consider to whom the rich man's wealth will go?
Is Gambling a Sin?
A guiding principle to consider is that both one's time and money belong to God. "You are bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20). Consider the parable of the talents where the owner gave one servant five talents, another three and the last got one. The last man hid his talent in the earth. The owner rebuked him. How much sterner might have been the reproof if he had gambled it away? If your time and money were your own, we could say, "gamble all you please, it's your own business." But to gamble with money that is not your own, to waste time that is not your own, makes one nothing less than a thief in God's sight. The Bible adds that thieves will not get to heaven. 1 Corinthians 6:9,10.
Gambling is driven by greed, which God hates. (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Ephesians 5:3, 5) Gamblers hope to gain money through the losses of others, but the Bible condemns coveting other people’s possessions.—Exodus 20:17; Romans 7:7; 13:9, 10.
Gamblers often rely on superstitions or luck. However, God views such beliefs as a form of idolatry, which is incompatible with his worship.—Isaiah 65:11.
Gambling can arouse an unhealthy competitive spirit, which is disapproved in the Bible.—Galatians 5:26
Gambling, even for small amounts, can arouse a destructive love of money.—1 Timothy 6:9, 10.
Dale Thorne quote: "Donald Trump really does believe in God"
If so then Donald Trump would have not opened a chain of gambling joints (Casinos)........ Trump may "believe" in God but that means NOTHING..... He is not a practising Christian (whatever the f**k one of them are) he is simply a "believer".
I'm sure that Al Capone and Hitler believed in God but neither of them were practicing Christians so this "he believes in God" bullcrap means NOTHING!
Tony Blair believes in God..... totally f**ked the middle east.
Queen Victoria believed in God...... totally raped and pillaged the world (in the name of God!)
It's the beleivers in "GOD" that tend to piss me off and also the things they do in "Gods name"...... they are the dangerous ones!!!
Anybody who says to me "he's really a great guy, not what you think Mike, he believes in GOD" that is like a red rag to a bull! It means "he's a f**kin' narcissist who thinks he is God"
The reason I question some of Donald Trump's actions? I believe he is a narcissist who thinks he is god...... he believes in God but not the God in the bible..... he is God in his world.
He's quite an ugly looking individual with a very annoying accent, he is a power hungry attention seeking narcissist, he probably has three hookers snort coke out of his fat belly button for breakfast, he is a global JOKE, he is the worst possible person for the job of President of the USA but, hey...... he believes in God.

With this senile narcissist Dickhead leading you over the cliff edge: I know that you're extremely jealous of the most powerful and successful person in the world. I understand that, because after all, you'd have to be insane and delusional to not know that he is in fact the most powerful (i.e. successful) person in the world. Get back to me after that sinks in. Dale, I wouldn't give all the tea in China to be "the most successful person in the world".... that is STRESS CITY and not the type of venue I like hanging in. I am not at all "jealous" of Donald, he has done things his way and I respect him a lot..... he's a good (and sometimes bad) businessman and certainly has balls of steel. Does that carry over into politics and make him a good leader of a country though? Only time will tell. I can never quite figure out American politics..... Ronald Reagan (a B rated actor) was president? What were his political qualifications? He was a bumbling idiot on the political stage! I think you guys are looking more at a "personality", rather than a "policy", and that's quite strange. All politicians these days are corrupt, you don't have to have a degree in being a con merchant to see that, they are out for what they can GRAB! It's not about the "people" or the "country" it's all about them...... their moment on stage and what they can reap from their time in office financially. Donald is a Billionaire businessman..... he didn't get there by thinking about the "people" or the "country"..... he got there through a LOT of wheeling and dealing that sometimes would be less than kosher. I would be worried if someone like that became Prime Minister of the UK....... you'd always be wondering "why" they decided to give up the day job (making BILLIONS) and rather spend their time trying to run an economy / country for a lot less money per hour and a load of stress into the bargain. He's either a Father Donald of Calcutta type person or a Don of Sicily type character....... let's hope he's a more leaning toward Mother Theresa type person than a Don Corleone type One thing is for CERTAIN...... Donald will only get richer from this appointment (a LOT richer) and his $400,000 per year wage (as President) is basically beer money to Donald.

I liked him (Trump), I really did, with his "America First" policy but 100 days into his presidency he has dropped the Mother of all bombs on Syria and is on the brink of nuclear warfare with North Korea.... so much for "America First"!
He has the mentality of a spoilt child and really needs to be reigned in by his aides before he does something really stupid that causes many millions of "normal" people to die.
If he stuck to his promise of "America First" I would be behind him all the way but a potential WW3 with nuclears? No way Jose!

Have you ever studied British humour (or "humor" as you call it) ? Yeh yeh, we all know what a f**kin' wall is and we all know about locked door versus open door but we can add a bit of light heartedness into what is a pretty sad state of affairs can't we? You American guys (and, yes, I am generalising) seem so monotone and set in your ways.... any attempt at humour / difference of opinion is seen as a "personal" attack by you. Jesus Dale.... chill out mate..... I am not SERIOUSLY suggesting that Mexicans will start building human drones in their garden sheds, I am not seriously suggesting that they will pole vault over the "wall" and Bullpup is not seriously suggesting that they may enter the USA via air balloons It's funny to think about it though.... a Mexican in his underpants and socks flying a home made Human drone over the wall........ a Mexican with his luggage on his back pole vaulting over the wall or a Mexican and his family coming over the wall in a hot air balloon Monty Python would have been all over this back in the day! Best regards, Miguel.

By the time the wall is built you will be able to use Amazon Prime delivery drones... That's assuming the USA and mexico are still there David....... That's really stupid. The wall is 30 feet high and thick enough they won't get over it even if they could vault that high. Now if you're going to be childish I'll go play with the adults. They may not be able to vault that height Dale BUT............... eccentric British people are making these in their garden sheds (out of model drone parts), I wonder how long it will be before the Mexicans cotton on to this and start a drone taxi service across the wall?

The op-amp's were Audio GD Suns - single units not the usual pair type - I have a Moon 'pair' in my Chiarra - Insomniac sourced them for me. Looking at my emails (and I needed to) it was August 2010. Please don't apologise for using the photo - I was only mentioning it's history to thank you again for sorting the op amps out. In fact I'm not sure I want to open it up and risk anything but I have a few onther bits of kit - photo stage & Meridian 104 tuner which I am tempted to try with an Orange one. Please though do not put me first in line if there are others wanting to try the spare sample. A. Adrian, You will be the first to try the Orange amp. I plan to get this review started over the weekend...... have been very busy with other things. Mike.
