Has anyone any experience on this one? How does it sound?
Any comparison for modded X-can V3? Is it better or worse?

AFAIK no one here owns a A1 (or one of the other Beyer amps).
I had also a look on the Beyer amps since I've bought two Beyer 'phones recently.
Even if they Beyer amps are great, I'd call them a rip-off. The prices are very high.
Beyer has also some surround amps with simulated 5.1 sound. Maybe these are more interesting than the A1, because they offer something special. The A1 seems to be just another headphone amp.

It might be a bit overpriced.
But with that approx 900 euros it costs, whatever. I've already paid about that much for my modded x-can V3 with Pinkie SE PSU. I don't care about anything special for my amp, as long as I just can listen music when I want with just putting it on (read my other thread about my x-can experience) without fear that bugger won't work properly.
And of course that it sounds good.
As for Beyer amp, I just think that it could be a bit more "quality" amp than Chinese/Taiwan alternatives. And I have also bought Beyer T1 recently, that makes me think A1 could be a good match.
But would A1 be sonically downgrade over modded x-can V3 with Pinkie SE?

I use my Beyer's (both 250 Ohm) mostly with my Neco's (MOSFET+portable, all with AD8160 opamps). Results are great, very similar to the results with the 300 Ohm Senn's.
At least for the 250 Ohm Beyer's, I can recommend the Neco's, especially the MOSFET.
I have a Mike-modded V3 with Pinkie SE. It's great for the K702 (my only amp that is a real match made in heaven with the K702) and for a couple of other 'phones. I don't like the 250 Ohm Beyer's with it, but I could imagine that it is a totally different story with the 80 or 32 Ohm Beyers. I have some doubts that the 600 Ohm Beyer's perform really well with the V3, but it's only a guess.
IIRC Ian told us that the Beyer's sound also good with the (cheap) PreSonus HP4 amp, but to be honest I didn't test it so far. I have a HP4 and it's probably only a matter of time before I'll test that combo.

The Chinese A1 clone doesn't look bad IMO. Price point is also good.

Well as I have used T1 for a while now with modded V3+Pinkie SE, I can tell it sounds very good. But I have not heard T1 with any other amp, so no actual comparison. I thought X-can can drive 600ohm fine.
Before T1 I had 250ohm DT880, and I think they were good but not anywhere near T1.
But could A1 be a better match with T1? Why do you think V3 ain't so good with 600ohm Beyers?
Many people seem to dislike 250ohm beyers anyway... At least when it comes to DT880 250ohm vs 600ohm.

It will not be a downgrade, it would be more like a sidestep.

Germany... ? "Made in Germany" it says... Doesn't it?
Sidestep?
I'm very interested to hear more opinions about this x-can v3 with 600ohm phones....

By sidestep I mean that it is neither worse or better, just different..
But seeing it comes form the same company it should be tailored to the beyersound..
I for one loves my DT880 in 250 ohms.

Claus, what is it that you did with the pads on the DT880? I must admit, you've got me regretting getting rid of mine.

One of the best phones I have owned over the years, but buildt to fall apart If I could find someplace that sold these pads I would buy a pair for every phone in my collection, they are the best pads ever..

Well it says in the back panel of A1 - "Made In Germany". Like T1 there is stated "handcrafted in Germany". So I believe those both are really made in Germany. clausdk, you have xcan v3 with DT880 250ohm? They are great! At least I think they were, only downside was that I think they become a bit fatiquing after a longer listening period and had a bit weak bass. T1 cured the problem, sound is absolutely stunning with them at least to my ears. I just wouldn't want to downgrade or anything for the price tag A1 is having. If I buy one, I'll be paying it for a year. Like T1's for now... Have to think very very carefully what to do. Soon this thread has nothing to do with the topic title

Welcome to RG. Where no forum boldly goes and then back again ..... You'll never get a better conversation anywhere else to be sure!! The amp you're looking at is a Chinese clone isn't it? The real thing is a breath taking price .... about £800? Ian

The real thing is a breath taking price .... about £800? Ian No, I'm thinking of the real Beyer A1... Like I said, it's available about 900 euros here. It's not so breath taking considering that my x-can v3 has already paid that much for me and I am still in no luck with it working properly. That's why I am after another amp. I am not going to put any money on my v3 as it just begins to feel like a waste of money and soon I will lose my sanity with it. This could explain a bit in case you did not read it before: rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=q&action=display&thread=6200

Oh yes, I remember it now. I thought you'd got it. What a pain.
Probably sending to Mike will cause it to go again as well!! I've got a modded V8 and so (touch wood) nothing has happened. I also have V1 and V2 which have worked really well but one that pigged me off big time with rustling noises was the little Bravo amp. It worked fine for a while and then would start rustling.
It doesn't help your confidence in valves does it? I also had a Little Dot that threw a complete wobbly and literally blew itself up like a firework.
That Beyer amp is expensive and tbh, if I was contemplating something like that, I'd go for a listen first if possible.

Yep, I have no any interest on any valve based gear anymore. Actually have no interest on anything else except that I get a working amp.
There is nothing more frustrating than coming late from work, having two three hours time to listen music. Spending half an hour from that opening the amp and putting it back together. Musical enjoyment is totally gone after that.
How long I have been trying to get this to work, something like 5 years.
What I need now is a reliable amp that matches good with Beyer T1. Amp that I just put on and sit to listen music to relax. How can anyone relax after half an hour hassle with insides first? And without even knowing what is causing it.
Considering A1, as it might be perfect partner with T1, Made In Germany (=should mean quality here), no valves. It might be expensive, but I do not care.
I'm asking about A1 in this topic here at the first place, as I have no chance to listen it. Which is really shit I know. I won't buy it yet for sure, just considering. I am still fighting with v3. Almost given up, but not quite yet. But so close.
So expensive gear has to be considered so well, that I need to do careful thinking about what to do.
And I really would like Mike or someone to comment on elysions words about v3 and 600ohm headphones. Have I gone wrong buying T1 to go with v3? If I have, then it helps me to make a decision (that is A1).

Actually, yes they do, Claus. I had one of the 'anniversary' ones which was rather nice. At the time, I felt that it was underpowered but now I know better, I'd probably be enjoying it nowadays. It was very quiet in operation and had a lovely clean sound. Another one that shouldn't have gone. A Meier could well be the answer. I remember that they were nice with the DT880. (Yet another one) It may well be worth taking a look at them. Ian

How can you say, that some amp cannot drive some phones properly?
I cannot find Meier amps anywhere...
Man this is getting interesting now. I really thought V3 is such a great amp that can drive any headphone with an ease, but reading your posts seems like this is not the case.
