@ Jokelo The BIGGEST difference between the clone and A1 is the OUTPUT resistance. The other numbers are just that, numbers, and do not reflect the SQ as they are FAR beyond the human hearing capabilities. Yes, subjectivists will call me stupid and are more knowledgable in this field. A1 = 100 Ohm (hence the about equal output powers at different loads. Clone = 5 Ohms (hence the 0.4W at 60 Ohms) Obviously Beyerdynamic is of the opinion their better HP's need to be driven by 100 Ohm (or 120 Ohm no discernable difference in EQ). This is where the biggest difference in SQ comes from and is very easily proven on the test bench and every (blind) AB tests known to mankind. Attach an extra 95 Ohm in series with the clone and notice how close they suddenly become. Lowering the OUTPUT resistance of the A1 might prove more difficult. If you want the explanations about impedance and powers in headphones download my tutorials: www.mediafire.com/?jdpaj1r17x1sos5www.mediafire.com/?ms4k8wuqt18x8s3Because of this high output resistance the A1 will be a very bad quality amp acc. to NwAvGuy. Indeed with certain in-ears it will sound crappy, but these are designed to be driven by other types if gear. Reviews prove (listening tests with actual high-end headphones), that, at least for this 'parameter', he is wrong. I really cannot fault 'my evil twins' other opinions b.t.w. a certain output resistance IS important for certain headphones.

NwAvGuy just hasn't figured the actual importance of output resistance out yet and everything that does not have a low output resistance (below 1 Ohm) is 'bad' per definition . b.t.w. he does know this is true for certain headphones but thinks it is only true for just a couple (and he doesn't seem to own any of those) so dismisses it instead of giving people a choice and have 2 or 3 output resistances. I wonder which designs support that all important feature ?

Let me take a wild stab in the dark. Configurable Headphone AMP ?
