I will wait until I have had a listen first Mike, but I am interested. That's great news Ian, I have been really looking forward to hearing this amp - I just hope it lives up to my expectations? Ian you have PM.

It's a nice amp if you like tubes, Chris.
I feel that it sounds more expensive than it is and when listening, it's always a good idea to bear a price in mind. I think it stands up well against more expensive options too.

Owning a V2 I certainly like tube amps, and like you say it does represent excellent value for money.

They'll go before you blink!! Mike, I didn't know they were doing a white one the same. I thought it was silver or black. Are the white ones the same? The standard 6N11 variant is about £129 so I feel £135 is a good price for the 6922 version..Import will be roughly £10 on each and the postage with that supply will be quite a cracker too. Mine came on a good deal with postage paid so I guess I was lucky. I wasn't exactly sure about the price they were going to retail at but I'd think nearer £150 with tax and post. However, it compares well with more expensive amps so it's still really good value.

It's a nice DAC if you like Tube buffer stages. Irrespective, it's very well constructed and great value. P.S. If I am wrong , send me to the Sin Bin for a week after I apologise.

I'm basically ironing out ANY hit and misses with import duty, lost items, lengthy returns etc. "IF" anything goes wrong.... I will test each DAC / amp, offer a no quibble returns service and ship next working day. Royal Mail special delivery (next day) covered for £500 will be £9.75 for a 2KG package (UK only). I will post at "cost" and packaging will not be added on. This is the T1 with the Electro Harmonix EH6922 valve (NOT the 6N11) and they will be HYPER checked at the factory AND UBER checked my end...... only the best for Rock Grotto You're not far off with £150 Ian but I'd like to think we can go south of that a bit.... possibly £145 "shipped" for the T1 with EH6922.

My T1 arrived yesterday (Friday) and I have to say it has completely transformed my sound system. I can identify all the drums and snares etc easily, I can almost see the fingers moving on the guitars and the vocals are fairly accurate (I find myself getting critical ). Gone is the 'hairy' noise associated with symbols and 's' sounds. The tamborines have tone and character and no hint of white noise. There is little or no listening fatigue and I didn't even realise how loud it was 'til I tried to talk to someone. I'm running a music server in another room and in the listening room I have: A basic networked Acer laptop 5737Z running the supplied T1 cable from the usb. The Aune T1 with basic cables running from the line out to the amp. A Yamaha R-S300 integrated amp. Super heavy oxygen free cables 2meters long with banana plugs (home made). A pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 150W speakers. This is by far the best system I have ever owned even though it is all "entry level" stuff by many people's standards. Overall I am extremely happy with the T1 The only small thing is the headphone adaptor for 3.5m/m doesn't work, but since i didn't even know there was one included it doesn't really matter. Chris.

The most important part is your are enjoying your music. Upgrades are great, you get to hear your music for the "1st time" again.
Have fun,

Glad you like it Chris. For that kind of money it really gives an idea of what good hi fi can do. The first thing I noticed was tone in the drums. It kind of introduces more awareness of rhythm into the sound. Mine arrived yesterday but I wasn't in. Delivery was so fast that I didn't expect it! I have quite a few amps, both SS and tube and.the T1 holds its own very well. I've just picked mine up and I have a hint of the day .... Those plastic guards that go over the tube are covered with sticky brown paper. To get it off is a bit fiddly. Stick your thumb nail hard into the bottom part of a leg (where it will go into the body so won't show if you mark it) and scrape upwards hard and the paper kind of rolls up so that you have something to grab!! The only other difference is the plug. Mine has come with a two prong flat shaving plug. No problem because I have an adapter but you may need one. The review one had a British plug on it but mine came from a different source so that may be why. Sent from my iPod touch using ProBoards

I noticed that vol knob on mine was a bit wobbly, so I tried to find something to tighten it up. I couldn't see the screw inside too easily since it looked a bit deformed so I went through loads of screwdriver types/sizes and hex thingamejibs. I couldn't work out what it is down there in the recess. Nothing would get a grip on that blasted screw to tighten it up so I went for broke. Got a flat screwdriver, turned it until I felt it had got a grip of something at least. Pushed really hard and went anti-clockwise. I thought, blow this for a lark, that vol knob is going to have to come off. It scrunched a bit and after an enormous effort, the blasted thing actually moved very slightly left and the knob slid off!! It was only just on in fact and someone must have tried to tighten it down and damaged the screw head so they stopped at a point where the knob was on, but wobbly. What a relief. Having a good look in there with a torch, the screw head was mangled so I put a gold knob on in its place. What an improvement to its looks. Seriously, a gold knob on the black version looks really classy so I now have a really posh looking T1. The knob that it comes with is perfectly good however, which is a pity cos it's metal and not plastic. Quite weighty - it was just that mine was loose and wobbled a bit and I think someone gave up with it and left it like that since it wasn't going to come off without a lot of effort. I tried to upload pics to Photobucket, but I can't get anything loaded for some reason so show everyone what it looks like. These gold knobs aren't cheap, but they are heavy duty and make the vol pot seem even smoother. It's higher than the black one, but the T1 look sheer class. Seriously, Aune are missing a trick with the looks on this unit. Never mind the excellent sound!!! A coloured piano finish would look brilliant and the gold know is just ..... wow. 6922EB, gold knob, and you have quite an amazing looking retro unit. The gold knob is the business!!!

Ian If you can reduce the file size to less than 1MB, as a Staff member you can post it directly as an image file. Regards Alex

I'm going to look for another place to leave pics I think. I can't get anything to upload; unless they have a problem at their end. It's really weird, but the addition of a gold vol knob makes it look really classy!!! I guess I had a Happy Accident!!

That's a familiar looking knob Ian Looks very good on the T1 though Oh yes - One on my Aune SS, one on the Panda and one now on the T1. I bought quite a few. Just as well. The old knob was a bugger to get off!!!! I'm glad it went in the end. I think the screw kind of 'turned the corner' on the shaft. It was put on not aligned with the flat bit of the shaft and got jammed round the corner! The T1 is really nice with the K550 as well. Been listening on it all day. The gold one is brilliant looking and is weightier as well.

Cheers Ian - can't wait to hear it now, shame it hasn't got the gold knob - it makes it look like a million dollars, just need a gold plated metal valve guard to match That is something that Candy could work on as possible upgrades for the future?

Quite a few people have been here today and when they saw the T1 lit up and the gold knob, they all said the same thing .... 'Wow'. I just need a tuve with gold on the top and not silver to match!!

Damned decent knobs those Ian, a nice chromed top hat knob would also look the dog's nads and would be a good match for the valve... I've got tons of the things kicking about, all I need now is a T1 to play about with! Got ten of them coming wish they would hurry up

I was wondering about that, Mike. Something new for you to have a tinker with? Ideal for you I reckon. Valve, knobs, upgrade, power supply and it could be the bee's gonads.
Silver or titanium would be good too. The weight is the nice thing about proper volume knobs. Once again, you got me onto that with the Panda. It just allows a REALLY smooth action with the weight. These gold ones are very heavy and very expensive really but I love them.
The possibilities with this amp are very wide.
Straight amp as it comes. Tube change. Power change. Knob change. Metal tube guard to match the knob. Even colour change. Have a look at the capacitors .........
This amp offers something for digital music that many others just don't do. The ability to slightly 'shape' the sound to your own tastes with the tube plus any 'upgrade' paths that could be done.
Trouble is, it means dismantling one to do it.
It stands up against others pretty well now as it is and I've never got over what you did with the X-cans (V1, V2, V8 and even that V-Can) with regards to dynamics, noise floor and even tone!!! MF missed a trick really, but my feeling is that this one is also a little gem really.

You could have two volume knobs either side for stereo balance and call them a nice pair. AHA - Photobucket have it sorted:
