Thanks Alex, but you do know it's all down to SandyK and RG. I must say I'm happier working with wood and a soldering iron. CF (aka crispyface) I've still got to find a use for the sheets you sent me, had to use that square word for the great SK it adds a certain "Oriental Mystique" to the whole thing. Regards, Alan

Hi Jon I took a stab at 16 1/2 turns of 1mm wire on that former being just over 3.0uH , so I wound up a couple. I will see how they go when I can get motivated. Kind Regards Alex This is for 1mm dia wire, Alex: Inductance 0.003 mH DC Resistance 0.02 Ohms Wire Gauge 18 AWG Wire Diameter 40.3 mils (1 mil = .001 in) Coil Length 0.37 in Coil Inner Diameter 0.51 in Coil Outer Diameter 0.67 in Average Turn Diameter 0.55 in Wire Length 2.43 feet Copper Weight 0.01 pounds Turns 17 Levels 1.83 Turns/Level 9.28 and for 0.8mm: Inductance 0.003 mH DC Resistance 0.03 Ohms Wire Gauge 20 AWG Wire Diameter 32 mils (1 mil = .001 in) Coil Length 0.37 in Coil Inner Diameter 0.51 in Coil Outer Diameter 0.64 in Average Turn Diameter 0.53 in Wire Length 2.51 feet Copper Weight 0.01 pounds Turns 18 Levels 1.54 Turns/Level 11.69

BTW, the calc says your 18 turn inductors with 1mm wire is:
Inductance 0.0035 mH DC Resistance 0.02 Ohms Wire Gauge 18 AWG Wire Diameter 40.3 mils (1 mil = .001 in) Coil Length 0.37 in Coil Inner Diameter 0.51 in Coil Outer Diameter 0.67 in Average Turn Diameter 0.55 in Wire Length 2.58 feet Copper Weight 0.01 pounds Turns 18 Levels 1.94 Turns/Level 9.28
Cheers

Hi Jon As you would be aware from previous discussions, I wanted to get closer to 3.3uH, but not as low as Douglas Self's new 2.3uH. A lucky fluke ! Kind Regards Alex

Hi Gents, Got back from a brilliant 3 week holiday in Orlando, Florida yesterday, so feeling tanned, relaxed and jet-lagged at the mo! Anyhow, a knock on the door this morning, and I was handed a nice parcel by the postie... If the last pcb buy is anything to go by, the amp pcb's should arrive in the next couple of days I'll post back soon to sort out the postage details and output transistor GB.

Hi Will Looking good ! I will be using my JLH singles in other projects though. I hope to post a photo of an updated 15W Class A using something a little different in a week or 2. Getting geared up for your new main PCBs. Kind Regards Alex

Another parcel this morning! Got a busy day ahead of me, but if you guys can agree if you want the pcb's sending now, or wait until we get the components in, that'd be good. Chong, I'll get your psu pcb's in the post.

That suits me Will. I forgot the boards were going to be sexy black again, very swish! That's a naughty thought

PCBs look terrific Will Sent with the dual LS and the power transistors will be OK with me too if you're going to go above and beyond the call of duty to source these too. If you are Got 10 or so each of a couple of brands of BC327-25 and BC337-25, so with some luck will get some nicely matched pairs amongst others I have. Also got some PHE426 0.1uf/250V rated MKPs with 5mm pitch from RS that should suite the output filter OK. Hard to locate 3.3uf MKTs with 5mm pitch, wondering whether a 4.7uf BG N might work OK in the DC offset corrector? Also have a pair of these AD744s on the way to try in the offset corrector, hopefully they'll work OK too. www.ebay.com.au/itm/120903872761?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649Lots to think about, but not too many parts I don't have now to try and get this amp built. cheers.. jeffc

Hi Guys, Can any of you more knowledgeable chaps take a look at these and advise whether either of them might be any good for housing one or both bits of this amp please? www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum/showthread.php?t=124909I bags first choice if so Thanks for any help, Dave.

Dave, You may be able to use the 2U case for the preamp or a PSU housing but neither would suit the power amps without the addition of some heatsinks and discussed further back in this thread. I didn't think the price, compared to new, was overly attractive either

Thanks for that Chris. I agree about the price but it seems someone may have bought them both anyway - any of us? Dave.

Hi Jeff No problem! I'm still up for doing a GB for the LS and power transistors. I was thinking, do people want the 0.1% tolerance resistors that feed the emitters of the LS devices? This'll help ensure that they are matched as close as possible. I'd also happily get those 5mm 3u3 films in - 43p from CPC, plus 5.95 postage - so best to buy in bulk perhaps get the 2u2 for the JLH's and the other film needed in the servo? Lets have some feedback, and we'll see what we can do

Crikey Will, you could be opening the flood gates there!
What you have arranged already is brilliant, however, any assistance in sourcing the most appropriate parts is very welcome and gratefully received.

Sorry, but I'll have to pass on that Oh well, the existing will still match the new other ones as they have black bottoms only.

Hi Will That would be worthwhile, as even when using a good DVM to select matched pairs of 1% MF resistors, that very closely matched advantage may be lost due to different soldering times. I would hope that the .1% MF resistors would still stay close after soldering. Kind Regards Alex

Oooh ah. If I wasn't hot around the collar before (long day) I am now That looks awesome Will I'm up for whatever is likely to produce the best end result. Right at the moment, $$ aren't really a concern. Where I'll find the time to build the thing is more the issue

Thanks for the kind offer, Will. Cheers Jon
