I was asked by Nenno De Zoete (of http://www.referencetweaks.com) if I would like to try out their new Miracle Wraps and I said "sure, why not!". I always like something a bit different from the norm and these sure are "different" in every sense of the word. My samples arrived this afternoon and, at first, I thought somebody had sent me some female sanitary towels by mistake... erm, these won't get your placebo juices flowing in the "looks" department which is actually quite good... I will be going into this thinking "white things wrapped round cables" and not "ooh, gold, shiny, look good, must be good" type of thoughts so no "visual" cues to make me think anything other than "mini sanitary towel type thingies wrapped around cable" Here are a few pics of what I received: No mention of what the powder is inside the "wraps" but it is claimed that these wraps "rebalance plugs and conductors on a molecular level which greatly benefits the conductivity of the signal." They call this "TTL" technology and that's about as much technical detail as there is.... have a read here: www.referencetweaks.com/features.htmOK... so far we have paper, string and a "secret" powder. This combo is claimed to improve the sound quality (when wrapped around mains cables / interconnects) and I quote: "An overall more analogue and pleasant sound will show up for you". I ALWAYS say it as I see it and say it as I hear it... OK, that was the "seeing" part, the next part will involve the use of my ears, some equipment and a well known selection of music... I'll use my "ears" for the listening tests and not any preconceptions, measuring equipment or placebo. I'll wrap a Pinkie, wrap the DacMagic, wrap the Panda and should have enough left to wrap the interconnects.... I will listen to the system "unwrapped" for the next week and will then wrap it and listen for a further week.... I may well do a few "intermediate wraps" inbetween just to get a feel for the wrapped / unwrapped type of sound. If anybody else would like to try the miracle wraps please shoot me a PM after I have finished reviewing them. I know that some of you here will be thinking "utter bunkum!" but I would ask you to please desist from posting negative stuff (unless, of course you have tried them and are speaking from personal experience) I want to go into this with an open mind and, as always, will let my ears be the judge. Mike.

Oh, yeah, this mircale wraps will be even more wonderful when you listen with a female companion. Alright, alright, I'm only kidding as usual. Shoot the end results when done. Er, I mean the miracle wraps and not what you think.

Look forward to your thought Mike. I too was contacted by Nenno via HF and should receive the "review samples" shortly. We will see what happens.

You can write your thoughts here Miguel, maybe we can discuss notes I have decided to start listening in a couple days (over the weekend) I think I know my current rig quite well but will substitute the Panda for an X-CAN V2 as I have a very tuned in ear with the V2 and, if there are any "differences" with the miracle wraps onboard I will hear them (or not, as the case may be)

You reckon it's worth strapping one on to see if it will improve "that" kind of performace too?

Perhaps you could try them on the lass in the drawing? Alex P.S. If you both are 100% sure that they do give an improvement, I would tend to believe you both, no matter how improbable it may seem. They may even have some ingredient in them that slowly leaches out and acts on any atmospheric pollution etc. of the surface of the metal, thus improving conductivity. I don't know if I will hear a difference or not. I know that I will not be able to explain it.

I've been gearing up for this all day thinking about how I could say these are snake oil "politely"... I even thought up a few sanitary towel jokes to throw in. In no way, whatsoever, was I expecting to hear a "miracle" and basically went through the motions carefully wrapping these "devices" round my source to amp interconnects and power cables... I was fully expecting to write something along the lines of "no difference at all, you'd be as well wrapping a £50 note around your cables"....
I will probably get laughed out of town for saying this (I "did" say I'd say it as I hear it) but these wraps have done something to the overall presentation of the music. I have been listening to two of my favourite Yello albums over and over and there is a noticeable increase in space and depth, there is a discernable "air bubble" between the component parts of the mix and it is easier to home in on individual sections... less of a "mix" and more of a pinpointable "selection".... think of the component parts as colours, with the miracle wraps in situ you can see a rainbow and easily pick out the different colours... it's very hard to explain but a lot easier to listen to.
I have been suffering from a nasty chest infection for a few weeks and my head only recently cleared but I can easily differentiate between "naked" and "wrapped".... I know these tracks inside and out and am very sensitive to any changes in presentation.
Believe me, I thought twice before writing this as I know that the vast majority of people will think these are snake oil (I did too, before I tried them) I also thought twice again.... I don't know the makers of these wraps from Adam and if their "wraps" hadn't done anything (apart from ballsing up the appearance of my interconnects in a bad way) I would have really ENJOYED doing a negative review and it would have probably got a good few laughs.
I'm not like that and always try to say it as I "hear" it.... these wraps have totally surprised me and if I "appear" to be a stupid person for saying so then so be it (I don't care).... my ears like the music "wrapped" and I want to find out more about WHY these are doing what they do so well.....
I have a friendly chemist who is willing to send a sample of the "powder" off to the lab for analysis but would rather get a bit more insight from Neno into the technicalities.... no reason at all why it should be a "secret".... a simple "these do what they do because...." will suffice.
These will be in the post to Ian, first thing on Monday.... I need to be sure that the "wraps" are responsible for what I am experiencing and not the remnants of a head cold.
I know that Ian will be brutally honest, whatever the rap.

Oh Gawd. Now I'll be in trouble!! Mike, is it only supposed to work on gear that's plugged in or is it supposed to improve anything. (I'm thinking two necos - one with one without) Ian

Mike... you should NOT be SNIFFING that miracle powder !
I am 100% sure these wraps will work well for any subjectivist in fact I can guarantee it works ! there is nothing magical about the 'workings of it'. No need to send the stuff to a lab anyway as they have clearly stated ONLY their stuff works so even when you use the same stuff the vendor claims ONLY theirs will work and all counterfits won't. They must be using 'Jomanda' where others don't have access to that... (inside joke for Dutch people)

Jomanda? Is that this bird? I was thinking maybe crushed ferrite rings which have then been bleached white maybe? I don't want to crack one open until Ian has auditioned them.... I have had some "subtle" improvements using ferrites and iron pyrite before but the white powder inside the wraps is a new one on me....

Not too sure on that one Ian... I have the "large" wraps tied around the power cables (you can bunch up a few cables in one wrap) and I have the smaller ones around my interconnects at the "source" end.... You could always try wrapping a Neco with one of the larger ones... there is no law that states you cannot do this... I decided to wrap the panda (mains and interconnects) and it seems to have subtly improved things.... Maybe they do an extra large "wrap" that one can apply to the head? You could also try wrapping the headphone jack though the instructions are more "input" orientated.... I have just read a couple more reviews on these and it would appear that other people are also finding these beneficial. Frans, you are in The Netherlands, maybe Neno will be prepared to send you some wraps for review? It would be interesting to see if they "measure" when applied to a device.... if the measurements change then the wraps must be doing something. Neno tells me they are currently developing "fuse wraps".... you basically wrap these around the fuse in your mains plug.... sounds a bit implausible but, who knows? "To wrap or not to wrap, that is the question"

Well, the guy that sells them is a Dutch man ...... Frans? ;D I wonder if it cures arthritis? Or attracts more fish when you go fishing? If so, I'll get loads. What's in the bag I wonder? I tried some on my body. The one on the left is at the start of the treatment and the one on the right is after treatment. It also changes your sex. Wonderful powder. Here's a wrap that enables 'clearer' thinking: Ian
