Leo,
I've been re-reading this thread, and the one on AOS, and noticed that you powered the IVY board from +/- 15v Paul Hynes regulators.
Did you try powering the IVY board from a 'standard' LM317 PSU, via the JLH PSRR? and if so, what was the difference?
Cheers.

I've never actually tried the JLH's with the IVY yet, I started with TP based LM317/337's (which I found did not bring out the full performance) Using this implementation I always felt the Buffalo had much more to give
I then tried Teddy regs which are VBE based, I did not like these in this particular application, the higher output impedance probably did not go well The bass was soft, the sound lacked focus
I tried ALW's, this sounded the best so far, they was a little bright at times which I think was caused by the low ESR panny FM caps bypassed with films, ALW super regs can be touchy with low ESR and higher capacitance on the output, lowering the capacitance made bass thin, it also sounded even brighter I messed about with the wiring, caps etc
The Paul Hynes regs gave me a shock, I first tried his shunt regs for the IVY because these are the easiest thing to change. These things sounded so good I didn't bother faffing about trying anything else because I was happy. I then replaced the Buffalo's onboard 3.3v , 1v2 and the important L & R AVCC regulation with PH shunts
A JLH should improve the standard TP LM317/337 regulation for the IVY, I might try this combo just to see what its like. Anybody else with a Buffalo and standard TP regulated supply should also try it, I'm sure it'll improve things

Thanks for the feedback, Leo.
I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of the new 32S when released (and ready to face the wrath of wife!) and my initial thoughts are to feed the analog L/R supplies with a JLH PSR and the digital fed a straight DC supply.
I'd concentrate on improving the local supplies on the DAC using the hynes regulators, having being inspired (copying?) you and your buffalo, after.
Hopefully TP will be posting the schematic, which'll help future mods.

Crikey, TP have posted the price of the new Buffalo 32S on their site.
$469 for the standard board, which includes IVY2.
Thats £317 or AU$660.
I haven't squirrelled enough away yet, so will probably wait this round out, and see what the next round brings, or maybe the minimal board that is in the works.
Time to get the JLH's made for the cheapo DAC!

Bloody hell! I'm not going to be rushing to try that With added regulated psu's thats going to be pricey, little too much just to try out, tbh I'm happy with what I have Give the JLH's a try Will with the Cheapo, may prove good?

If you're a right penny pinching bugger then pick up a secondhand Marantz CD52MKllSE from ebay ;D

Me mate managed to bag one so I should get chance to try it out less than 10 seconds before they was all gone. Bit of advice guys, the tweakers version does sound interesting but tbh I think I'd now go for this full version and feed it nice regs, you'll be struggling to better those OPA1632's in the input differential stage imo, I like the fact these are now used in the output too, the SMD parts should make them more stable. I know a few people who had problems with noise (me included to start with) when using the separate wired IVY and Counterpoint

Care to try heatsinking a SM LM4562 ? Alex

opa1632 has its die ,thermal pad on the bottom of the chip which should be soldered to a large copper pad on the pcb I hope TP are making use of this, tbh if the op-amps are dead stable they should run much cooler

For a differential circuit these are hard to beat
GBW, slew, noise are better than most with a healthy output current drive capability
Can go unstable without care in circuit layout though

Leo, what you said about the combined Buffalo32s vs. the tweakers version matches my thoughts with what I've read else where.
I'm not far from 'accruing' enough to buy a Buffalo 32s in the next batch, and although I realise that the choice of PSU make the DAC, I'm very interested in your thoughts when you get a listen to your mates 32S.
BTW, can you remember who delivered your Buffalo? I heard that there is less chance of getting hit by import duty, if Royal Mail don't do the delivery. I'm a bit concerned about having to pay up on the £300+

Well, the first Buffalo 32S are out in the wild, and the only indications on SQ/musical performance seem to be 'good' and 'tastes nice'
Anybody seen anything a bit more descriptive?
