I just got "Kasia Lins - Ain't Gonna Wait" and a few other tracks from Linn records. This one is a mix of jazz and R&B - excellent audiophile quality and good material. Hi Dale I have also been collecting the Linn "freebies" since they started, but have so far only had a quick listen to them after converting the downloaded .flac files to .wav files. Regards Alex

Talking of Linn recordings, a slow day today so I had a good shoomy through the site to see if there was anything to tickle my ear drums. Bear in mind I'm no great fan of the female singing voice so very difficult to please there, don't really like jazz and I wasn't looking for classical on this visit. So, the highlights of my dredging session were; Sam Thomas - Blind Theatre - sort of a rock/ambient album Holy Mountain - Earth Measure - grunty, grungy and lively Amy Winehouse - Hidden Treasures - some more from beyond the grave Found - factorycraft - some decent, well crafted pop The Phantom Band - The Wants - sometimes rocky, sometimes gentle acoustic Pete Alderton - Cover My Blues & Roadside Preaching - Blues with English pop/rock infuences Phoenix - Still Burning - blues rock Jon Strong - Follow Me - reminds me of Jon Hiatt and a special mention to The Red Hot Chili Pipers- "Bag-Rock" apparently! bag pipes with attitude, no where near as bad as you may think! Apart from Phoenix and Alderton they were all new to me.

I've been listening to bit of Tool of late and thought I'd try out the side project of Puscifer. Don't be put off by the daft album names, there is quality stuff in here that would be very difficult to pigeon-hole. Interestingly different. Listening to this at the moment on my hotel-room rig - Sansa Clip and AKG518 - Superb album. I probably wouldn't have listened to this if Chris hadn't have posted the link above; after I did it went on my Christmas list. It really is a case of not judging the album by the cover and giving it a go. Thanks Chris!

@ Will, Glad you enjoy it buddy, try the band Vast next I can't remember who originally pointed out DeWolff but loved what I heard. I've just caught up with their 2012 album "IV". A change in mood but still a good old romp with a psychedelic drive.

Here's a surprise find that Radio Paradise beamed my way. Eddie Vedder, yes he of Pearl Jam fame, solo effort, very folksy/country/dark. The album is Into The Wild (soundtrack to the film) I reckon if you like Mark Lenegan you'll probably like this too, it's a slightly safer bet but none the less engrossing for it.

Feeding my, now not no secret, penchant for some good-ole-country-boy rock. Can't beat a bit of Steve Earle for this kind of itch!
Maybe a bit of Joe Ely next....

.....and a band I've come across before but then thought nothing new here. The Sword's latest two outings are a little different so worth a mention;

I won't link the song as it's growel metal but a killer name for a song "Pyrexia - Panzer Tank Lobotomy"

Finally, for today, a new discovery for me. Primordial, an Irish band mixing the heavier ends of metal with folk. The vocalist manages, just, to refrain from too much growly stuff leaving the music to speak without being ruined. (I love the bodhran style beat being played over a kit in the middle there, class) Even if you didn't like them they would have least blown he cobwebs out

Requiem for a Tower - Jennifer Thomas (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) 4K
This video is recorded in 4K reolution .mp4. I downloaded it using Freemake Video Downloader ,selecting the 4K video resolution option and played it using the freeware GOM Player. If you DL this player, be careful not to select any other options such as Toolbars etc. Alex
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmizqVj7TWkP.S.
As I wanted the best possible audio as well as the highest quality video, I DL the 4K version as well as the lower video resolution option of 1280 x 720 with a higher bit rate .aac audio file. Using TMGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, I demultiplexed the video from the 4K video, and the audio from the 1280 x 720 version, then multiplexed them together to give the 4K video a slightly higher quality audio soundtrack.
P.S. I enjoyed this and another couple of tracks so much, that I ordered a copy of the CD. BTW, even though in 4K resolution , some of these clips look quite a bit superior to even the 1080 versions on a normal LED back lighted LCD monitor.

I've just got around to listening to the most recent outing from the Arctic Monkeys, "AM".
Been picky of their songs in the past but I think this is there strongest album so far. Some songs have a real English version of the Black Keys sound going on. Well crafted pop.
A last mention for this song, the lyrics could only be written by an English band!
