Heh, heh, I'm going electronic like Elysion. Wow, this synthesizer with synclaviar CD by Ed Starink from Holland I have not played for so many forgotten years until I found it stacked in between the pile of notes yesternight. Youtube doesn't has a sample from the album shown. So you guys sample Ed Starink with this: The playlist from the pictured CD is much better than in the sample. Btw, what a coincidence! Beach Boys launched his career after he was hired for their concert in Holland way back then!

Chong, try 'Ozric Tentacles'
A very talented rock/electronic band from Cornwall, I think. At least they sound like they come from there when they speak!!
Also - my favourite electronic band - Shpongle. Amazing players and very innovative group.
These guys use recordings/samples and electronic manipulations to create really fantastic soundscapes and rhythms.
At one time, I felt that the future of rock/pop was electronic only but in my old age, I feel that we must have a human input so that we detect more of the 'effort' that's going into the music making in order to for us to feel that it's real.
With electronic, because it's not produced by human 'touch', it can sound cold and lacking emotion, no matter how much emotion you try to 'put in' to the mix. I think the only way to get the 'human' feel there is to add real players making a real effort that you can detect more easily when listening.
Some Frank Zappa stuff is also worth a listen but may well be a jump too far for you in that it is bizarre. His synclavier music is totally electronic and computer controlled. He loved taking the 'human' element out of his music and getting preciseness from a computer.
I did when I was younger, but there is something missing for me in this stuff now and I would hate to see music turn totally to electronics.

Chong, try 'Ozric Tentacles' A very talented rock/electronic band from Cornwall, I think. At least they sound like they come from there when they speak!! Thanks for sharing and expanding everybody musical horizon here, Ian. They are from Somerset if this is accurate: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozric_TentaclesReally, not bad at all for that sample. I totally agrees with your view there. Just the same as hifi. Too technically perfect, it WILL sound "cold", inhuman and not the same thing as Live. You have been in the music business for so long to describe that right into the bull's eyes. Some Frank Zappa stuff is also worth a listen but may well be a jump too far for you in that it is bizarre. His synclavier music is totally electronic and computer controlled. He loved taking the 'human' element out of his music and getting preciseness from a computer. For that, I only have one collectors' LP (greatest hits I think) of him to show that I know about him. His music is quite hard to get into the fun mode. I did when I was younger, but there is something missing for me in this stuff now and I would hate to see music turn totally to electronics. Actually, we must have variety or else this world will be a very boring place to be in. There is also death metal which until now I still couldn't get into. My brain will instantly go into a defensive mode and that is protect itself by switching off those music. In general, I totally agrees with your current view towards electronic music. We do mellow with time and that's how we oldies are much better than the newbies. Anyway, more electronic muzak ................... From America ..............

Electronic not enough and so ............... The long version and yes thay too have incorporated more human touch into their music as they mellow with less electronic and more "real" musical instruments ............ Btw, try their hirez SACD and be blown away loud with that song! Here:
