Hey Chong, I think you're confusing Funk with Disco. Although from the same era, definitely not the same genre.

Hey Chong, I think you're confusing Funk with Disco. Although from the same era, definitely not the same genre. :' ( Oh, Funky Town and Designer Music are funk alright! Most of this type of groups are a cross between funk, disco and many types of genre. Much depended on how the song was constructed the stronger of what. Even Earth, Wind and Fire can be considered as Funk and I have heard many ............... Here:

The definition of funk: Derivative forms Disco – Hip hop – Electro – Contemporary R&B – House music – New jack swing – Liquid Funk Subgenres Go-go – P-Funk – Deep funk – Nu-funk Fusion genres Afrobeat – Funk metal – Funk rock – Jazz funk – Acid jazz – G-funk – Go-go – Funky house – UK funky Many of the most famous bands in the genre also played. I didn't know James Brown was the father of funk until I read up now: and his recording is so far from what we believed to be funk. I will take one of the quoted example to show all here: More like what we believed to be "disco", right? By right, more to R&B. By right, thru what we had heard in our time, it should be more like this ............. with a funky bass line and drum putting the act togather. Btw, Marc, I'm not personal attacking you as I just want to get this thing about funk straight as I know enough to contribute to the "music scene" here.

I'll be damned, i always thought Herbie hancock's Headhunters dated from before James Brown's Sex Machine. But it seems to pre-date it by 2 or 3 years.
I think those two were the beginning of real 'recent' funk.

I think those two were the beginning of real 'recent' funk. Oh, Herbie Hancock is just a "son" to a "father" in this genre when we read thru history. See this: Even Miles Davis, who himself was a "giant" already, was a "son" to "father funk". Heh, heh, heh ............

Stanley Clarke is a fantastic bass player - I only have one of his CDs "Find Out" but it gets played quite a lot. Taking it quiet at the moment with Versaemerge & Paramore. Watched Versaemerge Live at Nottingham Rock City earlier this year, they were really good. Saw Paramore live at Manchester MEN arena back end of last year, just before they split up - Fantastic night. Versaemerge ET cover (Sings it better than Katy Perry imo) Versaemerge Toxic cover Paramore Misguided Ghosts Paramore Use somebody - Kings of Leon Cover

Versaemerge ET cover (Sings it better than Katy Perry imo) Versaemerge Toxic cover Sorry for the abrupt signing off TGIF as I need to go home. Yup, you are right. She does sing very well and better than Katty Perry. They reminded me of them here: when they started up. Paramore Misguided Ghosts Paramore Use somebody - Kings of Leon Cover Yup, it's confirmed they were here in Singapore about 2 years ago. They came back this year 2011 too to dig gold as the reception I'm very sure was overwhelming from the local rockers. Here:

Lately life did not make sense, everything went too fast and all I could do was to move along and to adapt. Right now I am having slight pause...
Beastie Boys' album "Hello Nasty", the first three tracks: "Super Disco Breakin'; The Move; Remote Control". I still dig it...

Just listened on You Tube to Andy Unwin a local lad who I am teaching to drive at the moment.
He is the manager of the Portland hotel in Hull.
The videos were recorded by one of the customers in the bar after work in the small hours of the morning.
It is the customers guitar and he has not sung for 2 years.
He is singing Paul Weller (his hero). Sound and picture quality not too good.

Well, Natospec has made me play this! Arrghhh, I just have to play the whole album. Too good to let go as this is also one of PF's fineness moments. Well, karaoke along, as today is nice and easy Sunday too, as I have specially find one with lyrics for you to be a momentary Pink Floyd. Don't you want to have a shot to be a Susan Boyle cash rich all the way to the bank. But just only sing and don't smoke as smoking is bad for your health. Of course, in hirezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...................... This will also make Pinkie happy too .................
