The school run this morning was through a pretty impressive thunder storm, we even saw several lightning strikes to various metal structures including the main mast of the TV/radio repeating station. We had a tape of some good old rock classics blasting out, Dio "Don't Talk To Strangers", BOC "White Flags", Iron Maiden "Phantom Of The Opera" etc. With the weather going for it the track that seemed to take on a new dimension was Hawkwind "Silver Machine", definitely sing along time and my son normally doesn't even like that one

Oh, now sick of international artistes and so back to Home Coming where I belong ...........Obviously, poking at someone with this ............[/quote] Must get my hands on one of Corrine's CD's - can you recommend one? She reminds me a lot of Julia Fordham . Must go and listen to "Where does the time go & Behind closed doors" haven't heard them for years.

'Beyond the Shrouded Horizon' by Steve Hackett. There's something about his music that I really like. Intelligent rock music. Not all loud and distorted but much more thought out in design.
Even the 'heavy' sections don't sound over the top and loud. Really controlled playing and he's a great guitarist.

Must get my hands on one of Corrine's CD's - can you recommend one? She reminds me a lot of Julia Fordham . Must go and listen to "Where does the time go & Behind closed doors" haven't heard them for years. She has only 4 albums as here: Albums 2001 - Fly Away (originally titled Corrinne May) 2005 - Safe in a Crazy World 2006 - The Gift 2007 - Beautiful Seed After which she took a more backstage kind of career most probably due to family commitments. If I am to choose from afresh, I will take the last album Beautiful Seed first then follow by her debut album Fly Away. Why? This is because the last album is more technically polished from years of singing, lessons from previous albums, the most tracks and songs for your sampling for Beautiful Seed and most important of all it has more "audiophile" orientated songs. For the debut album, although not as polished as the last, I will still take it for her song If You Didn't Love Me for reason as in the quote. For Christmas songs, The Gift is of this nature. I haven't hear that, btw. So your pick. Btw, locally she has been hailed as the Sarah McLachlan of Singapore. Her credential is impeccable with passing out from the top Raffles schools in Singapore and graduating from the National University of Singapore before choosing to focus her career in music thru Berklee College of Music, located in Boston, Massachusetts (The largest independent college of contemporary music in the world).

Thanks XTRProf.
I think I will go for her début album first, then take it from there.
As for Julia Fordham listen to the following: Behind closed doors.
Where does the time go.
Let me know what you think?

Thanks XTRProf. I think I will go for her début album first, then take it from there. As for Julia Fordham listen to the following: Behind closed doors. Where does the time go. Let me know what you think? Very good! With much emotional and compassionate expression in the singing. The first thing that comes to mind is her close vocal (with more bass perhaps) and genre resemblance to American Carly Simon here : Of course, as you may have known, Carly had much success in these songs as well during her early years other than the song above. Mention James Taylor and Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), she will have connection. Thanks for sharing Julia Fordham with us here!

De Staat's album "Machinery", this album is different from the first in many ways. The title of the album says it all.
The mastering is done well, the music sounds good through the K500.

I'm back and getting ready for home. Not confirm yet as boss still around. So tonight, might play this if I'm lucky enough. Yup, a complete 180 degrees round turn to exit from the usual. Funk ........... and not f**k. Anyway, as good as f**k (reason see below). Surprisingly, the video soundtrack is NOT with loudness war on. Arrrrggghhhh, how can that be. I want the video soundtracks in hirezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............... ADVISORY NOTE: Explicit Content

Wow,
Heard this this morning and just HAD to look it up, great song and it's in German. First time ever i like a German song, at least the ones I heard.
Oh and... the lyrics. If you don't understand them, look up a lyrics translator, they are refreshing.
Cheers, Marc

I lied again. International is where I belong and so full retro this cast Sunday morning ................. What else after the above? and more. Too many to put here .............. The interview ........... and more ............... Check it up! Yeah, the typical slick moves and musicianship from the Shadows from years on polishing up their acts. This DVD is superb! Bluray will be excellent. I recommend you guys into the rolling good old times buy this. A must have, btw, and I have seen and heard a lot.

IMVHO there is only one instance where the orchestras copying music for contempory intruments or vice versa has had worked to any degree. Remember the LSO "Classic Rock" series of albums? Some pieces worked rather well while others failed to gel. Details hereI much prefer original music inspired from one camp to the other over re-hashing.

Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters"... Lovely. Funk avant la lettre. Ruben, I think we should compare music libraries one day. You seem to be playing all my favorites.

"Watermelon Man" (again) by Herbie Hancock. Just as fun as the cheerful Charles Mingus.
I am Funk lover at heart. I consider it to be the ultimate feeling good music. Due to my eclectic taste I haven't yet explored all the depths of the genre though. The best grooves in my opinion are usually the more minimal laid out grooves. If I want to celebrate it better be funky.
I still have to digitalize my CDs. They are eating space...
Right now Lyn Collins' "Think", it's time to think again. (Thankfully JB had a good ear and a good sound man. Oh yes.)

I only have Highly Strung and Momentum in my collection, I think this one should be added
