Dire Straits: Sultans of Swing (The Very Best of Dire Straits).
Oh, and Romeo and Juliet just came on.
I've just ripped some CDs again using funkadelic EAC ripping for added fidelity... or something. It sounds good, but I can't say that it sounds better.

Joe You need to do a lot more than just use EAC to make it sound better .As an experiment, try ripping directly to a USB stick using EAC , and playing from it. Alex

I was just experimenting and to be honest none of my equipment is really quite up to standard for this kind of thing, probably not my cans or amp, more probably not my DAC and almost certainly not my CD drive. I might try the memory stick thing sometime though - what does it do? I would hazard at stopping the HDD spin/vibration putting off the spin of the CD? I tend to take the opinion that bits are bits and that if it says that it's 100% correct then there's not much that can improve it. But I'm also open to suggestions that don't involve $800 power cables on my part.

Old techno stuff... No idea how this ended up to my player, but the video itself is quite funny.

Piano Moods from Enigma "The Same Parents – Single"
What a beautiful song. Unfortunately, I did not find a better YouTube video. The first 20 seconds of the video have AFAIK no relation to the original song.

Got love over gold by dire straits for chrimbo, havent heard this album for 25 years, went off them when they brought brothers in arms out. This is the best album they done. Listening through the neco v2 with the superlux hd681 and it sounds good. paddy

Well a long time ago came a man on a track......
Seen Dire Straits over 20 times live.... LOVE them!
I wouldn't say Love over Gold is their "best" album but agree that they lost it after LOG....

You need to turnup the wick on the original though, due to less compression than later remasters. Alex

Alex I have the first EVER Dire Straits "Brother in arms" CD to make it into the UK...... will take some pics tomorrow pre-ordered it back in the day... was my first ever CD (AND the first to hit the shores of the UK).... I still have the "FTS" sticker on it (old Philips machines came with favourite track selection) and it's labelled as FTS001....... I want my MTV!

You guys in the eastern block are really strapped for good music!..... jesus, I'd rather boil my head than listen to that turd It's not exactly a great song IMO. But it got famous, probably because of its song text. The song is technically far from being perfect. "Taxi" is almost only famous for that song. The rest of their albums/songs is almost unknown even here in Switzerland (and IMO really a turd). I'm also a bit suprised that this one got that famous. Sometimes it's not the perfection of a song that makes it attractive to the audience. BTW: The eastern block was a bit more in the east... Maybe that song prevented that the Soviets from invading western Europe. Similar to the music that killed the Marsians in the movie "Mars Attacks".
