many bands, here lately I've been in a rather jazz blues folk mood. currently its Johnny Lang - Live at the Ryman. really like the [what sounds to be like a hammond B3. I knew a fellow in washington state that could really tear it up. Freddy James. you can actually find a few vids on utube if it interests you. d/l about 70 or so lately, listening to names ive never even heard. so there a two for one of sorts hell lets make it 3. one of my favs has been Indigenous - The Acoustic Sessions. I'd venture to say that anyone that will actually give them a listen will like them. the are Native American group. very soulful, blusey sounds. they get me grovin', toe tapping. if anyone is interested in VBR mp3's I can up it for ya and give u links. anywho thats it for this listening Peace

Jazz at the Pawnshop. A new 24/88.2 release via DL from Chesky Records.(HD Tracks) I would be interested to know of other people's favourite tracks. 2 of mine are Limehouse Blues, and Barbados. Alex

Alex That's interesting. How is it compared to the 30th Anni SACDs from Propious? Anyway, the lead saxophonist is already dead. For all info ............ elysion , I enjoyed the first one. , thx. don't honestly know much of ambient and its artists. I like it tough. @prof how to have peace? that's easy answer . I listen to such music and helps let out pent up angst. try it some time, if you haven't head banged you haven't lived hehe. honestly when I listened to that album the most was in my sailor years, it kept me going especially doing cleaning. it was AIR Guitars and Green Weenies man hehe no video link, sorry lazy about now lol. now I"m listening to Spiritual Beggers - Return to Zero. its one of them , the more I listen to it the more I like it albums. solid rock and roll album, good vocals and heavy riffing, a band that remembers how fukkn cool guitar solos are in rock. something that is sorely lacking in todays typical rock offerings. anyway, mp3@320 if anyone is interested send me a PM, Peace.

Chong I do not have those SACDs so I can't compare them. Having said that, I have a gut feeling that what I am hearing from my PC will be superior to what I would have heard from a typical SACD/DVD-A player. Very few of them can even do justice to normal CD, let alone SACD or DVD-A. It has been my experience that DVD-A rips played via my PC and DAC, sound considerably better than direct DVD-A play from either my Marantz or Oppo SACD/DVD-A players. Alex

Chong,
Alex' rips are somehow an improvement on the SACD's. I have them and directly comparing is truly a surprise.
It's very subtle comparing CD to Wavs but there are slight differences in ambience and bass resolution.
I also compared a Lossless file to Wav on the same track and this time, the differences were quite large.
Lossless isn't what it's cracked up to be!!! Seriously. The lossless is good, but really doesn't have the same body of sound and smoothness in the treble region as the Wavs. The result is a stunning sound I assure you.
I was instantly hooked as soon as I heard one.
Anyway, imo the Wavs that he has are a slight improvement on the CD's and I have no idea why that can be.
However, Alex does know and he informs me that it's all due to mains noise and jitter.
Looks like I'm about to spend a fortune on a top notch CD player soon ......
It's changed my views entirely on digital reproduction. We are being let down by the players.
Seriously!!!
Alex did a test with me and it opened my thinking up big time.

Alex That's very interesting and should jive head to head with what are provided technically and those are reduction of jitters and read errors to improve stability for the better sound.

Although I didn't have a chance to compare yet, I agreed with what you had said. In fact, the CD player does make a difference in a high resolution system. I think it will be even be better to spend on a solid state server and getting the music from there. However, we must have a good software music player client for the possible improvement. Any idea which is the best software music player now?

Err, no death metal though like this : I'm just poking fun for all that an album named KILL THEM ALL with the song NO REMORSE can have a space in your MAN of PEACE nomenclature. Just joking, ok? World Peace
