Chong, This is a Spanish band that have been around for yonks, more 70's rock than metal but they are good live. They play the summer ferias around these parts so I get to hear them live most years. (missed them last night though as we worked too late) Sorry Chris, Miss your point. Are you referring this to Rata Blanca or Medina Azahara? Alright, for those interested more on Rata Blanca, here are the details: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Background information Origin Buenos Aires, Argentina Genres Heavy metal Neo-classical metal Hard rock Years active 1986–1998 2000–present Members Adrián Barilari Hugo Bistolfi Fernando Scarcella Walter Giardino Guillermo Sánchez Rata Blanca is a classic heavy metal band from Argentina that formed in the 1980s. The band was founded by Walter Giardino after he left V8. Rata Blanca played together for about two years before their debut on August 15, 1987 in the theater "Luz y Fuerza" in Buenos Aires. The band is heavily influenced by British hard rock bands like Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, as well as by Yngwie Malmsteen. Full details here. Read all about it .......No wonder they sound like Deep Purple. So obviously Rata Blanca reverse engineer rather than Deep Purple here. Enjoy ..........

Chong,
On re-reading my post I see your problem. ( my literature teacher would have been horrified at such ambiguity ) What I meant was that I liked the Rata Blanca band (I think their singer is a Bruce Dickinson fan) you posted and as an afterthought added a link for the Spanish band Medina Azahara who are good fun live.

They are/were both bitches, if I am allowed to use the correct term, funny thing is that in Denmark Kim is a boysname, there are also females called Kim, but not many, in Denmark that is.. So most people think she is a male ;D ;D Here is a picture of her and her best friend. A solo picture

Godsmack new album The Oracle, its pretty darn good.
taylor swift my wife likes here, me personally, I find her to be a Avril knock off with a country twang. seen her on a few live performances and to be honest I was not in the least impressed with her singing. just goes to show its who you know and who you blow.
btw, i'm not trying to offend anyone here, just giving my take on her.

Queen - Save Me.
I've always loved Queen's music, but this one track always gets to me, connects that little better. Freddie sounds like his heart is breaking as he sings this song.

Not problem. I always believe firmly in the American freedom of speech in a constructive way! Avril Lavigne just doesn't catch me whenever I hear her as she's towards more pop. I find her very basic just like many pop wannabes trying hard to make it without any differentiation. On the other hand, Taylor Swift caught me with her pop with a country twist straight away when I first heard the You Belong With Me and Fearless. I bought her album Fearless immediately and most of the tunes I would say are good just like the Ting Tings. Also, that album recording is suprisingly good as well as a bonus. Thanks for speaking up!

no worries. I should have put LIVE in there clearly, she Taylor Swift does indeed sound good on recordings, but I feel she is one of those overly engineered artists, her REAL voice falls short of even her recordings. I see more and more of that these days. For example Train - can't recall the track but its their new "hit" where he tries to hit the high notes on recording and falls short as well. anywho, taylor swift I seen her on a few different TV appearences and she simply did not sound anything near the recordings. lol and on a different not I just seen Def Leppard spell chk that lol on a concert channel we have here called Paladium and who has the singer lost any semblence of high voice. they actually have 3 female background singers to cover his shortcomings. but the vocals not sounding so good life for a has been is much different that a spring chicken like Taylor Swift. maybe she was sick, under the weather when i heard her live real voice. but I think not. rock on. have I mentioned that I LOVE LOVE LOVE John Prine? if writing means anything to you , you owe it to yourself to check him out, one of the all time best at songs about the human condition, some time heart wrenching sometimes a bit humorous. very good. I was fortunate enough to see him solo with acoustic guitar in Washington state, in Bellingham. I will never forget that night for the rest of my days. he acutally came out about the same time as Bob Dylan and for whatever stupid reasons he never reached superstardom as Dylan did, not the greatest singer but a country mile better that Dylan lol. I played Prine for some headbanger friends of mine back in the day and to my amazement , they both sat quiet as a church mouse and listened. That reminds me, lyric writting sure has gone down hill as years pass by, catchy hooks and stuck on repeat has taken its place. sigh. ok, i shut up now. PeaceB2

Yeah, you are right when you say LIVE can sound worse then studio. This is mostly due to the sound engineers not doing the mix and microphone placement right at the LIVE site. It seems the studio sound engineers are doing a better job with their mix and microphone placement than those LIVE acts. A good example, from my favourite Ting Tings song : STUDIO LIVE Notice how much more sexy Katie White's voice is in the studio mix as in the CD. Also the drums, we can even hear the skins of the drums being hit in the studio mix ........ LIVE ?? Katie White seemed to have a flu, man! The drums? Also, having flu as well ......... Of course, LIVE recording when done right can sound much more LIVE and convincing than a studio recording. Audiophiles just like good LIVE recording than studio because of the better atmosphere, literally, that those recording can give. How we wish to have more of the likes of Chesky brothers to mix and to do microphone placement for LIVE events as they have done a wonderful job in their Chesky releases without EQ and just by microphone placement if I recalled correctly.

Hey, that's a good tune from TRAIN. Immediately reminded me of Jason Mraz ....... You know what, this LIVE recording is good. The voice was captured very well. The LIVE act sound engineer had done a good job. Clap, clap, clap ...... Yes, only 3 claps and not more. The guitar was not too well as the engineer probably wanted to highlight Prine's voice more than his instrument. But overall a good job ........ This type of a simple vocal and a guitar can sound stunning when recorded well and reproduced thru a good hifi setup. You should also go for Peter, Paul and Mary stuffs as well if you like this ....... No wonder, your headbanger friends stayed glued to the Prine's tracks thru your hifi set. Ah, Prine just reminded me of Dylan, precisely ........ Thanks for sharing. Don't shut up, btw ........... I love what you have recommended.
