Hi Tom, The X-10 D upgrade was so easy to install ,about a hour or so and sounded better right away .I burned it in for 100 hours and the sound with the tube replacement to the 6H 23p-p is absolutely excellent.I use this unit with my DSS output and the difference is amazing!!! I could not live without it .I am looking for a used X10-D on Ebay to MOD and roll tubes in and add to the out put of my DVD . Do you have any 6H23P-P left .Thank you !!!! Mark

Mark Hi Mark, Glad you are enjoying the music! Unfortunately I am right out of 6H23N-EB and can't see me getting any more similar to those examples (in cartons / unopened) for quite some time, if ever. You will be the first to know when I get hold of some

Hi guys, How do I get my hands on the X10-D upgrade kit? I’ve tried emailing but only get an out of office reply – The standard X10-D does wonderful things with trumpets and stuff that is re-mastered from 78s but masks so much detail that it is hardly worth the candle. I hope the Panasonics, evox/rifas and diodes, plus the Jan Philips cryoed 6922s I have will make it a bit fleeter of foot. Help, Tagstrip

Hi all, new member here.
I just dropped Mike an email about the X10-D upgrade kit. Shortly after, while rummaging around on the web site, I found this forum. And what a great forum it appears to be! I didn't think audio forums were possible without bile and egos locking horns...
I've been using my X10-D for many years and recently replaced the tubes (NOS Telefunken ECC85). Some of the caps looked like they were about to blow their load, so I'm really glad I found this mod kit.
I'm also using an X-DAC (v1) and feed the lot into a MF A120 and a pair of Rogers LS3/5a's. So, sonically I'm pretty much in heaven.
On this note (and not strictly an X-Zone question), does anyone know a good source of a replacement for whatever volume pot it is they're using in the A120? Mine is starting to scratch and crackle *again*, and the previous replacement job at Len Wallis in Sydney cost me an arm and a leg. I love this amp to bits and want it to go on forever. I just don't know what to replace it with if it ever dies.
Cheers Steffen.

Alright, so the cap upgrade kit arrived today - very fast, thanks Mike! It's now burning in and I'll report back in a couple of days.
Cheers Steffen.

Hey im new and I can't see where to start a new topic from, there's no button that I can see. I was just wondering what people thought about how worthwhile it is to use two X10 Ds, one between CD player and Pre amp and another between Pre amp and power amp. Is this worth doing as some suggest. That says to me that the pre amp reverses the effects of the first X10 D? 7im.

*NOTE* Since this upgrade kit was first thread launched by Mike in June 2006, there have been even further improvements made to some of the components in the original kit!
Fitting this upgrade kit into your X10-D really does make a massive difference to the sound quality and boosts the overall reliability of this unit by quite some margin compared to Musical Fidelity's original circuitry.
The difference is like night and day, enough said.

have been thinking of getting the x10 and my v2 modded by Mike for some time. trouble is money is tight. looking at the pic , although it is stock, to me it looks in good nick. as someone who has only used a soldering iron a couple of times, should i take this on and just buy the kit. has anyone fitted this kit who is a novice like me? the components seem fairly cheap so am not too worried about damaging any, but i do worry about damaging the tracks on the pc board.
