I'd actually like a diy project for just after Christmas and could start a new thread up so just having a browse around, theres quite a lot of choices now. Was looking at this www.headwize.com/projects/showfile.php?file=jorgen2_prj.htmAny idea's what diy amps out there that sound good guys? I don't really want tat but something thats going to be worth while building

Leo looks good - but only the DC servo path is not mine.
None of the DC coupled amps have a DC protection with a relay on output.

Thanks Vixr, did you compare it against anything else?

leo, its about the best bang for the buck I've seen lately...I've been putting alot of hours on my tube amps, so I feel like I couldn't give a fair opinion. I will say that as far as SS amps go, it sounds awesome. I measured about 0.1 mVDC on the outputs...I set the bias at 30mV and the innards get quite warm. I will post a picture as soon as I'm finished casing it up.

Beautiful.... a piece of musical art Bugger! I had that idea (or something similar) but didn't think folk would like it! So guys, are you saying you like to make things that aren't in a fully enclosed box? And don't mind stuff like a perspex sandwich?

"And don't mind stuff like a perspex sandwich?"
Perspex looks great when new, but scuffs and scratches easily. It may also be prone to shattering when drilled or cut, unless great care is taken. Perspex was used extensively in Crossbar Telecommunications Switch covers to replace broken glass, but it often became difficult to clearly see the operated switching relays inside after a period of time. SandyK BTW, It may not have too much "She who must be obeyed " appeal long term.

The most DC coupled amps works without safety net I did not found a schema of a DC prodection that I like I see the difference between the orginal Kumisa III Headphone Amplifier and the Cavalli-Kan mod. is the input - FET's instead of BJT's and the power stage (Q12, Q13). But at Cavalli-Kan I miss resistors in emitter line from Q12, Q13 ..... headwize.com/projects/showfile.php?file=jorgen2_prj.htmwww.amb.org/audio/ck2/

I tend to agree. I would prefer to wait and see what Graham comes up with when demand eases. Perhaps a differential pair to 2 discrete amplifier blocks (per channel) then recombined ? Maybe a little like the NX33, but all discrete ? SandyK

Smoked Perspex would still look cool but wouldn't show the scratches so much. BTW Graham having owned the solo for a week now I wouldn't care if your amp looked like a giant bogey (booger for our American Friends) ala Mikes hot glue Cmoy
