Afternoon all,
Hope someone can help, or at least offer a suggestion!
I have a PC running Win7 in my loft, I have been slowly ripping cd's using EAC for a while now and have got through 500 or so, I am using XBMC for playback.
I mainly listen in my bedroom through a Teac DAC and have connected the two with an active USB cable, not ideal but it works!
I would also like to listen in my lounge as well (two floors below the loft). Now I have easy access to my cabled network in the lounge but no way of getting another cable from the loft to there.
Is there a box that will work as a medium quality (budget an issue) network DAC that will work well with Win 7??
I have a headphone amp I can use with this already.
I would rather not have another pc down there, that was the reason for putting the current one in the loft!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Andy

Is this a system you have used?
Be interested to speak to someone who has. and wondering how the quality of the units without speakers are, this is purely for headphones at the moment

Oh, and ouch! looks as though you need a connect at each end, that would be 3 for me at $275 each.

Here's some more info on the sonos systems; linklink2Some of the large forums have also discussed it with opinions etc. What sort of budget are you willing to part with? If you find something that works well and has reasonable sound quality at a cheaper price please share your findings. This is becoming a more and more commonplace requirement and I'm sure folk would like to know.

Have had a look at your links and googled a few more bits, it would seem that sonos is pretty good but has a few drawbacks, such as a limit to tracks it can display.
Budget wise I was hoping for a little as possible as allways, but I would need at least two connects if not three, more then I can afford at present.
Seeing as I am already using xbmc I am thinking about looking further into that route. Maybe getting a couple of Apple TV and going from there. Need to think more about this I guess.
