Hi...
...Im a new member to this forum just becouse I find some love to this litle musical fidelity stuff.I just finished the tuning of my MF X-10D tube buffer with upgrade of power capacitors, resistors diodes and other stuff, but I just decide to go with E80CC tube insteed of ECC88.And I just to tell all the intusiast out there, that this is by far the besz mode Iv done tu this litle tube buffer.I just cant believe how much bether is the E80CC tube if I compare this to any other tube from ecc88 family and e88cc and 6dj6 and so on,Im using the E80CC from Siemens from 1960,but made by Tungsram.Im must say I have newer heard some bether sound from this buffer. This tube is so ULTRA low noise, with so deep and precise bass and a huge sound stage with detail to die for.Plese belive me if you will upgrade you buffer, than you just must tray out this mode. But you must first do some modifikation to the board, becouse Im runing the heaters in paralel with 6,3V 2,5A toroidal transformer. So for do that you must cut the traces by the tube socket (pin4,5) and than in the right way link the power supply for the heaters like it must be.I have newer changed some parts with another value, only with bether parts from bether quality. So to say the buffer is ,except from bether parts upgrade,in original conditon, with B+ voltage about 30V and I have realy no problem to run E80CC in this configuration. To say the least,Im realy totaly blown away from the sound of this buffer now,I have at home some other buffers to,but this is realy now state of the art litle buffer. And just to noted, the buffer is not in original enclosure,I have build some realy nice wooden enclosure for this buffer.
So for everyone that will do some modification to the buffer,I can say that it is worth, and you will have some realy superb music expirience.
