I have ended up in posession of a Russ Andrews HP-1, I must admit I am impressed with what I have heard so far. It does sound better than my X-can but I think there is a small room for improvment. Can anyone (pink?!) maybe suggest anything that will give a worthwhile improvment? I am very happy with the sound thus far and as a stock unit it is superb but wonder if a few DIY upgrades can imrove it even more?..

The Russ Andrews HP-1 is a re-badged Stello HP-100. I did a quick "Google", but it didn't turn up any mods. Have a look around Head-Fi; here's a thread with a nice big picture of what's inside: www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=205746Incidentally, on the Russ Andrews site it mentions that the Russ Andrews products are improved versions of the Stello products: www.russandrews.com/category-Russ-Andrews-equipment-PRADAC.htm. If you're willing to "pop the hood" and take some pictures of the inside it would be interesting to see what differences there are, or whether the cheeky monkey has just put his name on the front.

Thanks xerxes.. the upgrades he has 'done' are mainly to the power supply.. I cant remember what the insides looked like but will have another look in the daytime to compare the pics. I was impressed with the amp. Im in a quandry at the mo as to wether or not to swap over to this or send it back! Its always a hard call
