Hi can anyone tell me or point me to a thread that explains the differences between the first two x-cans amps. Thanks

The X-CANS has an output of 100mW (100 milliwatts) into a 40 ohm load ( >100mW for loads >40 ohm ) The X-CAN V2 has an output of 1000mW (1 WATT) into a 40 ohm load The X-CAN V2 theoretically has better driving capability than the X-CANS but this all depends on the impedance of the 'phones you will be using with an X-CANS A bit on impedance here: nwavguy.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/headphone-impedance-explained.htmlThe X-CANS employs opamps, the X-CAN V2 doesn't. The X-CANS was the first headphone amp from MF.... the V2 came next. Which sounds best to me? All depends on the headphones and the type of music I'm listening to. On the whole, the V2 is the more "universal" of the two and works good with a wide range of headphone impedances. The V2 has a wider headstage / soundstage. As with all things Hi-Fi it all comes down to what your ears prefer. A few reviews of the V2 here: www.rock-grotto.co.uk/xreviews.htm
