Hi Martin Without the CL section the JLH will be stable with parallel 4,700uFs. They MAY even be stable with parallel 4,700uF and the CL section used, IF the 4,700uFs have been stabilised already via a bench supply for around 48 hours. I haven't verified that though. Regards Alex

Regards Alex Thanks Alex, I have spare JLH boards so I will build a couple as you suggest with the CL for this project. I may add a CL to one of the built and well run in boards with the 4,700uFs just to see if they are stable, just out of intrest. If I do I'll post the results on the forum I have been thinking of a bench PSU (variable say 1-2 amp max and +/-) but so as not to hi jack this thread I have started another Regards Martin

Regards Alex Hi Alex, More questions I'm affraid. I am about to order the bits for the CL version of the JLH REs to use with this HA board / kit GB. No probs with main bits (using 2200uF caps as you recomended earlier, thanks) but for the CL will these bits be OK? R11 1.8K R12 1.2 R Q6 / 106 2SC5171 / 2SA1930 for the diodes I have plenty of SF14s and 1N914Bs if they will do, or do you recomend using the correct 1N4148Bs. They are only about a penny each anyway. Thanks in advance All the best Martin

Hi Martin. Yes, that's correct. You can use either 1N914 or 1N4148 in the CL section. Just remember that in the +VE rail you use the 2SA1930 for the CL, and in the -VE rail you use the 2SC5171 for the CL device. Kind Regards Alex

Always a quick reply and right on the mark cheers. I now have my £50.00 order for Mouser after about 6 weeks wait. Thier postage prices are so high if you order under the limit. Now when is the credit card reading date for the month?? Worse still RS did not have the parts so no post free local collection Thanks again Martin

Hi guys, I had hoped to be able to do an update before my holidays, but I won't be able. It'll be August before I continue and fill in the PSU BOM. Soon after we can close this and do the ordering. I promise all goods will be in to fill some Autumn and Winter evenings with soldering Cheers, Marc

I promise all goods will be in to fill some Autumn and Winter evenings with soldering Cheers, Marc As an aside, in the meantime some of you may wish to consider what you are going to house the HA/preamp in, and whether you wish to use separate external toroidal transformers (recommended.) Mine are in 1U aluminium rack cases. The only catch here is that you need to carefully select the height of the 2,200uF 35V electrolytics that are used in the PSU PCBs, so that there is clearance with the top cover of the 1U enclosure. Use of a 1U rack case will also give room for further additions, such as input switching, if you later decide to use it as a very high quality preamplifier as well. If you also use the 15W Class A amplifier with this in preamp mode, you will not need a delayed output circuit, as the 15W Class A already has this facility. Regards Alex

Enjoy your holidays Marc May I recommend bolstering the falling numbers coming to the Costa del Sol Thanks Chris, but sorry. Anything south of the Pyrenees is too hot for me. I'm going east this year, Slovenia, never been there before and it's supposed to be very nice. First the last dreadful task, filling in tax returns and tomorrow I'm off. I'll be off cyberspace for 3 whole weeks Cheers, Marc

Hi Marc, Just bumping this thread up. Is there any light on the horizon for this project or are you still in the thick of being busy with that strange thing called real life

Hi Marc, I'm with Chris on this one, even if it's only to say Hi! give us a shout. Personally I'm in no hurry for the LS devices which are going in the PA. As the PA is performing extremely well with closely matched and thermally bonded (epoxy) BC550/BC560 I'm in no hurry Marc. Regards, Alan

Hi Marc, Just a quick question. Does the complete kit for the HA include the two LS352/ LS313?..... I may have ordered one set too many if it does. Sorry Martin

Hi Guys,
I'll do an update soon, sorry about the delay. Main thing holding me back is that I was unable to follow the recent changes and I want the be up-to-date to reflect the BOM correctly. I also need to find some time to assemble the BOM for the PSU.
The LS devices are not included in the parts set, I'll update the spreadsheet to make that clear.
Cheers, Marc
