My X-Cans v1 is getting a bit long in the tooth, but I don't have the funds to get a whole new amp. I am planning to upgrade the caps and opamps instead.
However, instead of the Burr Brown OPA2134, I am thinking of using the OPA2604 or OPA2228. Which of the two do you think would be the better choice? I'm thinking about installing a DIP socket so that I can try both, since I can probably get samples from TI for free.

Out of those two...... the 2604. Instead of the 2228 try the 2227, a lot more stable and a good drop in replacement in the V1. The 2604 is "warm" sounding so may be a bit OTT in the already warm V1 but it's worth trying for sure! Be sure to fit a dil8 socket so rolling will be easy.
