I have previously owned various other models by Etymotic. Specifically the ER6i, ER4P, and ER4S of which my favorite was the ER4S. Although I have since owned another 10-12 other iems/earbuds (many more expensive) the ER4S has held a special place as far as sound and ease of use. About a week ago I ran into a sale of the HF2 (cobalt color) for under $100 USD including S&H and I jumped at it. Part of my decision was due that they would be excellent for my walks (yes I started exercising again) since it has a control pod that includes a mic that interfaces with the iPhone. The HF2 arrived last night and I promptly started listening to it using an iBasso D4 (different op-amps) fed via USB from an iMac running iTunes 11. Files are Apple Lossless and I left them burning in, currently at about 12 hours. I won't speak much of sound for now since they are basically new. However I will mention that what I recall of ease of use was correct and from that perspective I love them. BTW, the HF2 have a 35-42 dB's of isolation depending on the tip used. Here is a link to the HF2's: www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf2.html

I have had this for a few days an they have about 130 hours of burn in. I have also listened to them about an hour each day. I have read that balanced armatures do not need burn in but I swear the sound is fuller and it has better definition. Perhaps it is my mind/ears playing games on me, so far very happy with the unit.
