Hi Guys - I'm a newbie on this site having found it referenced on an ebay item.
Anyhow I have tried sending 3 mails the site owner asking for advice and cost of the upgrade service but have had no response.
So here's the question that hopefully you can help with - with limited funds whats the cost effective upgrade ?. Also, how much practice do I need with a soldering iron (i'm a schmuk with one) ?.
cheers !

If it's the V-Can 2 you're talking about, I guess the volume pot is still set so that it's too high lower down the scale?
I was curious about the VCan 2 and what changes have been made to it. It hasn't been spotted on here yet.

I'll have a look in my spam filter just incase it's picked them up.
Sorry about that,
Mike.

Thanks Guys and thanks Mike.
NP Mike you may have seen my mail under my other email ID - richard.j.brooks .....
Anyhow, yes the volume pot is the original and now you mention it, it does seem to be of a high volume when at 10 or 11 o'clock.
I have looked at the valve swap out and thats easy but wielding a soldering iron seems to be a bad idea without a lot of practice so a kit installed as a service seems a good idea.
cheers

Hi Mike - have you had a chance to look at my mail ? I'm still interested in an upgrade just need some support in identifying the right thing to do. Do let me know thanks Richard Hi Richard, have you tried pm-ing Mike? You have to be patient - he's a busy guy, and does all the work himself so it sometimes takes him a few days to answer. Check out the "Work in progress" thread in the M.F. section of the forum. P.S. - why don't you post your requirements in the forum and let the many knowledgeable members help you to "identify the right thing to do"?

Thanks Bluesboy, much appreciated (yes have tried a PM).
So, I have a X-Can2 which I've had from new. I like the idea of a kit especially if its a reasonable cost (parts and labour) but would prefer Mike to do it as I have no soldering skills. So would like to know the overall cost.
If i can't afford the kit then would a valve swap give a noticeable difference (even I could do that). It would be useful to know what other members think about that.
cheers all

If you've had the amp from new and still have the same valves in it then - yes - new valves would make a notable difference. Valves get tired and out of spec as they age. They may still work, but they won't work as well or sound as good as a new set. Mike has a good supply of superb sounding valves. Check this out - www.rock-grotto.co.uk/x-ccessories.htmlThat said, Mike's kits are very reasonably priced, especially considering what you get, and they are easy to fit with comprehensive, easy-to-follow instructions.

Oh, you are in good hands here especially Mike. Many here have the V2 to help you along too. Me as well but half done as interest now goes to computer audio. So no worries here for your V2.
