Friedrich That circuit may be O.K. for low current draw devices such as CD/DVD players, but I wouldn't use it with amplifiers. Also the 10nF capacitors to earth may cause tripping problems with ELCBs ( Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers) at the most undesirable times ! I speak from experience there. Regards Alex

Eh? Y2 caps to ground are common practice in single level isolation (class 1) consumer equipment.
At work, i often remove them from power supplies in order to be able to measure more cleanly on the scope (in case you wonder, yes behind an isolation transformer, i'm not fond of killing myself yet).
This is basically a large single stage common mode filter.

Many older houses already have a small amount of earth leakage, and lower values at that location may be advisable. e.g. 4.7nF(or lower) It's not much fun when the ELCB trips in the middle of your favourite TV program or worse, and then resets O.K. until the next time, perhaps weeks later. These kinds of things can be hard to track down too. Regards Alex
