Hi there,
If you mainly use the sound card to feed external DAC, would you get Musiland Monitor 02 US Dragon over ESI Juli@ (PCI Version, can't find PCIe version)?
Also note that: - The analog out will also be use (with cheap amp and speaker) for non serious listening or watching anime/movie. - Don't have any skill in mod/DIY.
Any opinions are greatly appreciate. Thanks.

The 02 Dragon is a nice piece of kit at a reasonable price it'll give you more flexibility over a PCI or PCIe card such as using it on a laptop. It has a PS input to feed the analogue circuits (line out and HPA) with an optional external power supply for higher sound quality. You could also consider the 03 Dragon at a slighly higher cost, it uses the much better performing PCM1798 instead of the 02's PCM5102 and has a better analogue section.
In case you perfer internal sound cards for the price of the Juli@ you could also consider the Asus D2 or perhaps, streching a little the budget, the D2X. Obviously the Xonar ST or STX would be a better choice but they cost almost an extra 50% over the D2. Creative's Titanium HD is not a bad choice either.

Considered the 03 Dragon, but my external DAC only has BNC and RCA SPDIF input. Didn't consider ASUS or Creative sound cards because I'm concern none of those can give bit-transparent/pure output. Especially after read ASUS Xonar Essence ST/STX review on stereophile*.

I have been using an Asus Xonar D2X with Asio for quite a while now, via Coax SPDIF. If your DAC has good jitter rejection, this route is up there with the best of Async USB DACs.Another Sydney member also gets similar results with Coax SPDIF from his Asus Essence. Alex
