There is something to be said for colour coding of various things to evoke a perception of quality. I think I'm right in saying, for the UK at least, that Cable Talk were the first to really play on this and packaging strongly with their cables, with the pack filing in quickly. The purlple one with white plugs must be better than the plain black...etc Sales and marketing depts., bless them I beleive that it is very important how hi-fi things look, what color they have and so on. I read a thread the other day on diyforum (I beleive) where people were a little suspicious and complaining about Panasonic FR capacitors because they were not gold colored and probably worse then FC or FM.
