I beleive that it is very important how hi-fi things look, what color they have and so on. I read a thread the other day on diyforum (I beleive) where people were a little suspicious and complaining about Panasonic FR capacitors because they were not gold colored and probably worse then FC or FM. It means that they primarily looked at the appearance of the product and not at it's technical specs.
