A very interesting early review about the performance of the upcoming IvyBridge processor generation from intel: www.anandtech.com/show/5626/ivy-bridge-preview-core-i7-3770kThe new i7-3770K and i5-3570K CPU's are performing very well, but I'm still proud to have the older SandyBridge i5-2500K at home. The i5-2500K is still delivering very impressive performance and the price/performance ratio is still outstanding. It was quite a big suprise for me to see a few benchmarks in these reviews where the i5-2500K is performing better than some of the i7-3xxx and i7-2x00 CPU's. It seems also that the i5-2500K is still one of the most overclockable CPU's intel has released so far (this fact isn't mentioned in the above review). I guess that upcoming low-power i3-3xxx IvyBridge CPU's could be a very good base for audio systems that don't need excessive processing power. AMD's upcoming Trinity architecture will be certainly also worth a look. While AMD's Bulldozer (FX) generation was an almost complete disappointment, the next generation FX chips, codenamed "Piledriver", will probably cure most flaws of the first FX generation.
