A good idea to ruff it up a bit with a dremel too..... especially the back plate.... where the ground tag mates..... ruff it up with a dremel

You're absolutely right Mike I did it before I went to work, (where i'm posting this) and had one eye on the clock. When I see it in the pics I see exactly what you mean. I will go back under the bonnet on my next four off and shorten the exposed conductor, and tidy up the joints. I was using Cardas "Eutetic"(??) solder for the first time. It's supposed to be one of the best, but I found it difficult to work with. But I'll persevere. Nice one Jeff When you do the re-work are you going to remove the input cap jumpers and bypass the track - that's the way I intend to do it when I have a spare millisecond. Hey Jeff, I like your assistant, I wish I had one like that Mike. I also Like your assistant, dare I say it - she looks a bit like Geri Halliwell

..... you can also "tag" a connector onto the body of the pot and ground it to the chassis...... Mike I have just tried out this mod. I was convinced that I would not hear the slightest bit of difference After listening to the same track 3 times in a row, I then did the mod and listened again. Like you said this is very fine tuning and what I heard confirms this. Nothing mega but certainly better - all I can say is this mod made everything smoother, less edgy, not that is was edgy before. The wire will stay in place The wire was made up of some left over Evolution OFC cable. I guesstimated the length needed and it is maybe a tad long, but when I next open it up I will shorten it.

Hi Chris, no i'm not sure I'll bother with that one. I don't want to start getting into another phase where I'm constantly doing little mods to the extent that I spend more time with the amp apart than I do listening to music Again, about to head off to work but did the vol-pot grounding mod you have just done, but haven't the time to listen. Reason to go back in was to clean up the board and shorten the exposed conductors as per Mike's suggestion. I also Like your assistant, dare I say it - she looks a bit like Geri Halliwell Chris, I'll not mention anything about Geri Halliwell to her
