Ship out it'll be then... Only one 'gospel' is allowed it seems... Frans, don't ship out yet as you need to book a ticket first. It's rather no longer about religion any more but at a "personal" pride level for what were written. Just chill out over the weekend and come back here reset and rebooted as Pinkie did whenever he goes into you know what. Everybody have it's ups and downs. However, the main thing is how to come back ........... One thing I love about Pinkie is that he does come back to apologise to anyone when he had reset himself and realised that what he had done was an A hole thingy. At first, I thought of Pinkie as an old "uncle" drunkard but now I see his humanity side of the person. I'm not asking you to apologise but just to chill out and come back here reincarnated. It can be very painful but just do the reset and you will realise yourself better like Pinkie to judge things from a better perspective to be a true soul with soul again. Don't let the angelic soul run away though.

You sometimes remind me of the Cherokee woman called 5 Ponies. ;D Nag,Nag,Nag,Nag,Nag.) I think Rick would have squashed this all flat at the start!!! He did have a certain way didn't he? The thing is, no one will contribute to a thread involving subjectivity if they know the history of its discussions on RG. That's kind of what happened here. Basically just 3 members, because most know that it can cause ructions. Same on the MP3 'blind' comparison. The subjectivity/objectivity argument will never end and since it seems to result in tempers going, many won't talk about it any longer. I must admit, I think twice about any descriptions I write nowadays for fear of saying the 'wrong' thing!! Even in the MP3 thread, I decided that it would be easier to hear 'nothing'. Then you don't end up as 'piggie in the middle' but it is sad to see two internet friends battling it out Like Harry Potter and Voldemort. Everyone should buy an RC heli and chill out while they crash it everywhere.

Now back on topic. I'm going to buy some more OCC wires and connectors to redo some of my headphones.

If you want to add a worthwhile "wire" then add a shielded wire at the input and bypass the long piece of track with it... if you don't know what I mean I will take a photo for you

In fact, as written earlier, I'm going to change to full copper RCAs, if affordable, and with copper OCC gauge 20 hot and cold and a double direction screen like in my X-Dac V3. However, I cannot change all at once as I wanted to be able to sense the goodies after stabilisation. Btw, my X-Dac V3 is still only half modified until now. I think I can come back to that after I start earning again. Argghhh, mind now at Sabre 3 already. Mind always mental ahead of finishing as usual. I think I need to go to the mental hospital for a check up!

Yesternight after stabilisation ............. The 220uf BP DC decoupling output caps ............ Muse 470 uf BP ............ and waiting for another Muse pair to take it to another level close to 1000uf ............. The Muses, as can be seen (sorry, not so clear and will post one clearer when opening up again), were lifted from their usual loft to get ready to solder in the additonal pair. Also, the Muses +ve legs were marked as can also be seen from the picture to get ready for a Super E-Cap configuration. Sound?

Chong What's keeping you ? You should have ceramic valve sockets in there by now .

Oh, the grain level clearly went down 1 to 2 notch, albeit the brighter tone of an unrun-in Muse pair, but only after solving this! Yup, the Right Channel power transistor pads were lifted or broken, damn it, and there was hum and no sound from the right channel. So engineer me went in to thicken the pads area with additional Wonder solder to solve the problem. Not taking any chances, the pads that were not lifted or broken were also given the Wonder teatment .......... It works a Wonder now!

Chong
Seeing that you are heavily into Zen,Other areas that you may have already covered are better types for C108 and C109 (47pF) , C104 and C105 (100uF) Perhaps larger value and better type? C103 . Perhaps 1uF polyprop ? C106 - Better type, same value ? Do you have a schematic of the PSU ? Regards Alex

Nope, no schema for the PSU. Ah, Scotty diodes ............. Oops, too much Star Trek ............ Schottky diodes, Cerafine and BG coming?

Bloody hell chong, I don't think you're going to be able to repair that Oh, that's my latest highly modified Nanotech amp on the design and evaluation block. MIT will be coming. Frans is second now behind me!

Bloody hell chong, I don't think you're going to be able to repair that Oh, that's my latest highly modified Nanotech amp on the design and evaluation block. MIT will be coming. I was bored and decided to update my V2. Out went the panasonic FM 1500uf PSU board stripped & cleaned The underside needed a lot of work, plenty of lifted tracks and pads In went UF4001 diodes with polystyrene 33pf caps & wima 3.3uf film cap Followed by Panasonic FR3300uf 16v caps Also Panasonic FR1800uf 35v caps to complete the PSU board. OFC wire links - I left the insulation on the links to get over the problem that Chong thought there may be? In went Vishay Roedenstein 1uf with heat shrink around the legs and lifted a bit higher to keep away from the links. More links replaced Extra earthing point for the casework - for star earthing So my V2 now has 21,000uf - over double the 10,000uf stock PSU a few other mods and is currently burning in with a burn in disc on repeat for 24 hours. I will let you all know how it sounds in a couple of days.

Crispyface Have you made sure that the rectifier diodes have adequate surge current ratings for all this added capacitance ? As an example, you would normally not use a 1A diode with more than say a 4,700uF filter capacitor. Alex
