I'm keen to get rid of the coiled cable on my DT 990 Pros which is a pain.On removing the earpad however I can't see a way in as the earcups appear to be glued together......does anyone have any experience of recabling this otherwise excellent H/P ?

The pads can be pulled off. This is what it lookes like with pads off: After they are removed you can stick a screwdriver near the edge and 'pop' the driver assembly out. It's sort-of pressed in there, not glued and holds itself with little protrusions in the sides. here you can see where the original drivers were and where to put the screwdriver to 'pop' it out. the drivers on the picture above are NOT Beyer drivers but came from another HP and were put inside the beyer housing. Once you have the drivers out the rest is peanuts.
