Hi, at the moment the headphones i am using are Sennheiser hd 650 and Grado 325is. The amp i am using to power these is the Little Dot mk3 version 2. I am using my iPod classic as my source , connected to my amp with the Russ Andrews LOD to rca on my amp. At the moment i am looking at getting the Musical Fidelity X can v2. These amps seem to have quite a large following. If i do manage to get my hands on one i think the next stage would be to contact Pinkfloyd and enquire about modding it. Cheers Paul

Btw, what's wrong with your Little Dot driving the Senn?

Nothing is wrong with the little dot mk 3 driving the senns . They are a fantastic combo.I have changed the power tubes to EH gold pin and have quite a few different driver tubes. I was looking at using the xcan v2 for my grado 325is. With the intention of doing the Pink upgrade at a later date. My other option for the grades is the LD tube hybrid amp , which i will get eventually .I just fancied going down the Xcan path at the moment .

Hi Paul. Welcome to the nut house!!! I had a Little Dot kind of blow up on me. The valve blew first and things followed inside. The heat build up always worried me inside the box, although I like the sound on the HD650 a lot. Mine was a V2 I think. I have Xcans V1, V2 and V8. All modified by Mike. My favourite is the V2. It has a lot of character. It also delivers nicely into an HD650. Many prefer the V1 but the V8 seems to have gone away with a cough and a splutter. I guess it wasn't liked so much.Mine was a bit lightweight until Mike got in there and I added a Little Pinkie. It's pretty neutral sounding I guess, so many wouldn't find it quite as exciting!!

Hi Rabbit Do you know if Mike (PinkFloyd) is still doing the V2 conversions himself? One member on this sight has offered me his converted V2 (dicky), but funds will not stretch that far until i am back at work. But another member has an uncoverted one on ebay (DocRock). I will just have to see what price DocRocks V2 will end up fetching. I can always upgrade it at a later date. Cheers Paul

I don't know if Mike still does upgrading, Paul. I know that he transforms them into something really nice.
I regularly use mine with an HD650. Nice match. Funnily enough, I found the LIttle Dot a good match before it blew up on me.
I always felt that the 'roundness' of the HD650 would be made worse by valves, but not so.
You get a rather nice 'rubber band' twang in the bass which is really pleasant.
