Wow, I can't believe it. In March alone, these people are coming to Singapore to dig gold. Really spoilt for choice.
6 Mar Roxette 10 Mar Duran Duran 27 Mar Olivia Newton John
Haven't even include Evanescence coming in 27 Feb 2012 and, of course, the act that should not be missed Judas Priest on 20th Feb if you are the headbanger kind.

Oh yeah, JP in Singapore 20th Feb 2012. The videos already out ......... I didn't know Lamb of God covered them. That would have destroyed the enjoyment of the main act as they are into some sort of death metal stuff. Not much good videos on the gig so only 2 videos for you guys ..............

I read somewhere that this mob who seem to think they are an arm of the U.S. Government, are looking at ways to close this down and if possible launch prosecutions. Alex

Chong Just about every You Tube video you link to is illegally uploaded copyrighted material. I read somewhere that this mob who seem to think they are an arm of the U.S. Government, are looking at ways to close this down and if possible launch prosecutions. Alex I've always wondered how so much quality copyrighted material ends up free on Youtube. And then of course, just playing any video on Youtube downloads it to your computer automatically, which strictly speaking is illegal also. So even in the case where a music company puts their own official video on Youtube with the supposed intent to be "played only" and not downloaded, that music company must be aware that just playing the video also downloads it to a file. Lots of grey area there. BTW, there was a very good debate on this on the WhatHiFi forum recently, and the admin deleted the entire thread of course. Basically, prosecuting ordinary people (rather than pirates) for downloading was the point of contention, much like prosecuting people for "stealing" money they find laying on the street. It did illustrate where draconian laws are often proposed, but unfortunately that conversation was removed.

Lots of grey area there. On that particular front I feel the record companies are shooting themselves in the foot. They are deliberately messing up the SQ (loudness wars) on legally purchased material to the point where many recordings really sound awful. Who the hell wants to buy that in red-book/wav or whatever when they can have it for free in mp3? It may even sound better When they wake up, record final issues properly and compress the radio issues to hell and back for loudness if they must. Then they might make a start on convincing people that mp3 is for low quality or test-listen only, then buy the real thing! As it is they are happy for people to think mp3/320 is good and then get upset when losing revenue because that can be DL'd for free. Blinded by their own greed!

Good point. As it stands it's almost if the legitmate sellers are driving people into the arms of the pirates. Came across this the other day, it might have been on this forum, can't remember now, but I thought it was a nice illustration of how pirated films, whilst not generally better picture quality can be a better user experience. I've got several films on DVD and the menus, unskipable trailers and anti piracy warnings are infuriating, it can take 5 or 10 minutes to get to the actual film. Whereas, like in the illustration, with the pirated films I've seen, you just get the movie, no trailers, no poxy FBI warnings, straight to it. Surely the legit DVDs could have all the trailers and crap at the end, so you can watch it if you want (not likely), not force you to mess about.

Seriously for me a keen audiophile, I will buy the same album in all format for completeness if they are really stimulating stuffs good enough for audiophiles. So it's more promoting and collecting for me than being illegal. Btw, do we know that ripping a CD to wav by using the "best" ripper like EAC doesn't mean there is no difference in sound even if the CRCs are the same. There is at least a 5% difference in quality. Train your ears to hear that. Like Chris had said, the record companies are also shooting their own foots by going the loudness war way. Which audiophile will buy something that barely have any dynamic range? Nowadays I check for any extreme loudness war before I even buy. The Metronomy album made it but not for the Blind Pilot album. See for yourself here: Wav of Blind Pilot's We Are The Tide.

Just do a Google search for any song in FLAC or other lossless format and all you get in most cases is pirates. The music co's don't even have a legitimate source to compete with the pirates.

Eh, I just got lots of mp3. Even that is not free most of the time. Have to pay for their download services. That's what I mean by real pirates. For profit.
