Eating out in the UK is relatively expensive, we're (in)famous for it (as well as hotel rooms, nothing under about £40/$60 per night).
(As long as we can keep this thread off the main topic, of Claus's new headphone bargain, I'm happy... )

A good meal here is about 90 USD with water.. A meal where a waiter brings you a menu and brings you the food and you wear clean clothes..
A bigmac menu (the universal coin) cost about 13 $, the small portion with 40 cl of soda..

Claus
Love your description of a good meal out!
A MacMeal is about £4.00 here.
My standard meal out, enjoyed after watching my football team win (usually, but not last Sunday!) with a couple of pints of beer, is a curry. This, for two adults plus my teen daughter, is usually around £45.00 ($70/€50), including a couple more beers and a tip.

True, but for $20 USD a couple can buy lunch at a cuban restaurant and get:
1. White rice 2. Bowl of black beans 3. Ground beef or pork 4. Sweet Plantains 5. Garlic bread 6. Coffee (espresso)
The $20 would include tip and sales tax. Not bad IMO!

Bowl of black beans...probably the stomach is a bit different, im always wondering how people can eat this whiteout heavy farting..at a restaurant.
If i had to choose between rice and beans i would definitive opt for the trakstar 2050!!!
My last fancy meal for 2 person was 4 rolled pancakes filled with mince and ham and a tasty cheese sauce, a Chinese rice dish with meat and veggies, 2 x non alcoholic drinks (coffe or juice) 2x curd cream dessert with berry souce and 2 x double mojitos. I paid 14£, the waitress was polite and very frendly.

Anyone recommend a decent headphone amplifier for the HI 2050? Solid state or tube?

Since no one else has come along, I'll give you my opinion...
I drive my Takstar 2050 (which I find really comfortable and sounds good, too) with a range of HPAs: mains/desktop and battery/portable, all SS.
If you give a budget, people might be able to make some recommendations...

My Takstar HI2050 arrived 2 weeks early (NICE), works fine with my Yamaha receiver and Essence STX sound card. Good sound for only $64.

I would say the 2050's pads are like the Senns are meant to be when they are new, perhaps a tad firmer. My HD565/580/600 pads are at varying degrees of ageing (between 2 and 15[?] years old) and some are definitely too soft and squidgy, but it gets very hard to categorise this factor!
None of the pads (Senn or Takstar) are sweaty and uncomfortable on my ears (YMMV).

I use my 2050s mainly hooked up to my PC system (USB DAC to HPA) so am not listening closely when I wear them (obviously, because I wouldn't be at the PC if I wasn't working or at least reading/surfing). In addition, sound stage isn't particularly important to me, so I don't pay a great deal of attention to it.
All that said, I'd say the sound stage is pretty wide, not spectactularly so, but perfectly adequate. I do often notice that they're quite a bit brighter than the HD580/600s, although I've never done a direct A - B comparison.
For the money they're a steal.

I came across this link with some high-res pictures showing the innards of these phones ..... look to be well constructed and only semi-open with lots of padding filling most of the cup cavity.... www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4006/takstar-hi-2050-headphones/p1at the bottom of the page there is also a link to a comprehensive review..... If not Polish though you'll need to use Google Translate to read it ..... cheers.. jeffc
