Peter, I wouldn't bother with the current production valves... you are much better off with genuine NOS (from the days when they had skilled staff who knew how to make them).... I've tried many of those electro harmonix valves and they are all over the place (spec wise) very inconsistent and I put this down to the poor build.

Thanks Mike,
Do you have any idea which NOS tubes would be both affordable and as quiet as possible? I've also been told that an ECC88 is not exactly the same as an E88CC, which could explain why the JJ E88CC are just a little bit more noisy than the Electro Harmonix 6922, maybe all i need to do is just stick with tubes that are the EXACT equivalent to the 6922, not just a suitable replacement.
I would like to order a set from your webshop, but unfortunately I am experiencing huge difficulties receiving mail from the UK. (About 90% gets lost, and the various mail companies all point the finger at each other, meaning I can't seem to find out what the problem is)

E88CC is a 6DJ8 and E88CC is a 6922.... the 6922 / E88CC is a superior valve for the X-CAN. The Russian 6N23P-EB are, by far, the best bang for the buck (IMO) and most people who buy them are over the moon with them... they are military grade / long life types / chromed pins.... absolutely beat the pants off the JAN Philips 6922 in the sonic dept.
Where do you live? I send everything via "signed for" delivery and (touchwood) have had nothing go missing in over 9 years.... Italy and South Africa are a bit dodgy to send to but usually "delayed" than go "missing".
