Hi all! Got the used x-cans...the cans got a bit battered in the box traveling all the way to Scotland. When i received the item was a bit shocked at first. A broken volume knob in 4 halfs . Well the problem is the sound, attached to AUNE DAC is awful recessed. Opened the Cans to fit Mikes matched russians hoping for some changes. Well...the same as with the TESLA gold pins. Recessed and bloated sound, if you crank up the volume it is not possible to listen. Should i post some pics to see the mainboard, mayby there is a problem because its a modded V2?

Who was it modded by? Also pretty shocking that the knob was so battered that it broke into four halves rather than the usual two. The PO can damage things so badly these days that it actually causes nuclear fission, it seems!

I got the x-cans from our fellow member Paddy, modded by himself. He added a couple days ago the input caps for any stray dc voltage that could damage my headphones. Can it cause this problem? Before that everything was fine? Well i dunno one of the Teslas looks on the top a little bit burned and makes some awfully loud static noise (probably a burned valve), meanwhile the other Tesla tube looks immaculate. Well the package had a big black marking FRAGILE or something like that...its screamed for some smashin' .

If you post pics, it should be easy to determine if there are visible defects on the PCB (like blown caps, damaged components etc.).
If it is not something obvious, then someone like Mike can help you the best.

He can refund you AND claim from Royal mail for the damage. In my experience it is never a good idea to keep something that has arrived "damaged / not working".... shit happens but when you are "paying" for something you expect it to arrive in tip top (as advertised) condition. Send it back to Paddy, ask him for a refund and let him claim for the damage to the Royal Mail. Return it to Paddy with a covering note "damaged in transit".... I am sure Paddy will refund you in FULL and take it up with Royal Mail. Mike.

If it's not fit for purpose send it back to Paddy.

Paddy said he will be off to Prague the 26th this month, so i have to wait till he arrives. Sent him some disturbing pm's . Was hoping that someone could say what's the problem with the V2. He is back, will send the V2 to Paddy for a refund. Arghh ... the first steps were a landing on my nose.
