have tried using the search feature but it keeps timing out, with an error message. i see there is a fair bit of interest in indeed hpa's on here. i am interested in an indeed tube buffer. does anyone have any opinions on them? thanks

I don't have an Indeed buffer, but the MF X10-D buffer is lovely. I have it attached to my MF X-Can V8 and it seems to add more weight to the sound and gives a little more authority imo.
A lot depends on how sensitive you are to tiny changes. Some people hear no change and others would say you're imagining it.
I like the X10-D and it's nice to have it there with an Ipod feeding it - you do feel reassured that the signal reaching the amp is better optimised to improve the sound.
I suppose the 'in head' idea of having another tube in line is attractive too.

Hide the tube!! Much less chance of interference. The open designs have one serious weakness - noise. It comes with the design. Mike had a great idea putting a metal wrap around the G3. It would help the noise problems that are so common with the high gain, open frame designs.

Great. Just hope now. They are nice but as I said earlier, it really depends how sensitive you are to small changes. I really like the X10-D and for me, it helps to slightly beef up the V8. I have nice tubes inside both the V8 and the buffer and that's another area where you can play around with the sound. Mike is an expert with tubes and really knows what works. I have also found the Little Pinkies to be an advantage as well. It never stops!! Ian

I agree with Ian. These "exposed" valves may look good but they pick up interference quite easily (incoming / outgoing phone signals etc.) you are much better off with the valves (and the rest of the circuit) housed in a shielded enclosure.
Mike.

How is the X10D buffer doing? I also considered a tube buffer, the Indeed MK3 looks great and judging by opinions left on ebay and my experience with the G2 headphone amp, it would be a safe bet, though I would sure check bias settings... There is also another unit which keeps me intrigued. Yaqin SD-CD3. I have also read that this unit benefits from Caps/tubes upgrade...Price tag is affordable for both units as well.
