I have for some time been using the Ploytec ASIO driver for my usb DACS (mainly Poppulse units based on a Cmedia chip). I have been impressed with the improvement in sound qualiy over ASIO4ALL when in XP.
I have recently found the Ploytec driver will not work with the Burr Brown 2706 inout on my main DAC albeit when playing on cPlay - cPlay seems to include cMP to allow a dedicated front end and wanted to give this a try. I am tempted to try the AQVOX ASIO driver but at €79 wondered if anybody had any experience before I took the plunge (having already forked out €50 for the Ploytec driver).
I am also mindful that Windows 7 uses a differnt interface and it maybe better upgrading the O/S (something I always find very offputting).

I think the problem is the interaction betwen the Ploytec driver, C Play, and the USB sockets on the AN8 Mobo I have. Appranetly the ploytec is a bit fussy during install and with the socket the DAC is plugged into. I'm going to get a USB3 addon card to see if the DAC is happier plugged into it on its own. www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=IO-PIUSB3-2Interested to note that the card has its own molex power input. I could try an external power supply ?.

Sorted the problem.
A new USB card did not "help".
By deleting the ASIO entries in the registry (Local Machine - Software - ASIO) and then reinstalling the Ploytec driver (so there was only one driver), Cplay sprange to life.
Cplay is excellent software and I will setup the cMP frontend and give some feedback.
