If I use a Y-Splitter to use 2 heaphone amps which are 24 ohms and 300 ohms would I be getting a serial load of 324 Ohms and would that compromise either of the headphones sound?
Thanks

I use a y-splitter in the headout on a player, when I have more than one phone to burnin, have not really tested the sound, but it does not sound bad..
putting two headphones in one output should lower the ohms AFAIK
Be carefull that you do not put two or more lowohms phones to the amp, if the ohms gets to low the amp. will not like it..
Note: I only do this when my phones are apr. the same ohms.
I suspect that you are not talking about using two amps, but two phones in one amp.

I suspect that you are not talking about using two amps, but two phones in one amp. Yes. I was just thinking of a headphone splitter, for multiple listeners.

Then it should not cause any problems, but if a leightweight and a heavyweight is used with the same amp. the soundpressure would be very different in the two cans.. Oh and the splitter is parralel not serial, so the load would be somewhere between the ohm numbers, some people now how this is calculated, i do not

If it was a permanent thing, it would be better to short circuit the existing 33 ohm output resistor , increase the capacitance of the 220uF output capacitor to 470uF or 1,000uF, and from the outgoing side of the capacitor connect 2 x 33 0hm resistors to individual headphone sockets. Alex

Hi James, Tried a few values out with the 7506 and, to my ears, 80R was the best.... Built you up an adaptor using Neutrik Jack / socket / evolution OFC Pro cable and 1% RC55 resistors. Should do the trick nicely

Hey Mike that looks beautiful too! Thanks very much. Can't wait to try the Sony's with it.
Hope your tooth is better.
