I've mastered the KORG Kaossilator now and, when going into town on the bus, sit there making music... these things are SERIOUS fun if you'd rather experiment with sound than listen to pre-records of other people experimenting / creating.
The KORG Kaossilator head-out is quite decent and you can reach quite nice levels of volume through a decent "sensitive" pair of 'phones (such as the Senn HD-25/1) but if you want to show off and BLAST OUT your "live" creation to others sitting in close proximity then you'll have to amp it AND ditch the closed 'phones for open 'phones
I am not into annoying people on public transport and my days of "look at me" have long gone so when I'm on the bus I just carry the KORG Kaossilator and Senn HD-25/1.... more than enough to satisfy my personal eardrums.
When I'm at home, however, I strap a headphone amp onto the KORG Kaossilator and there really is only one amp you'd WANT to pair with the KORG Kaossilator (actually..... there are TWO) The BANZAI Morph and the BANZAI Thunder..... they come in a selection of colours and one of colours just happens to be identical to the KORG Kaossilator shade of yellow
I power my "home rig" Kaossilator from a 5V Little Pinkie..... Kaossilator into Banzai Thunder (or Morph) or both (if someone else wants to listen in) driving "any headphone of my choice"..... my favourites are the HD-250ll linear, HD-25/1, Beyer DT-770, Beyer DT-990, Superlux HD-681, Sony MDR-7506 as they ALL do sub bass very well.... the Kaossilator will let you hear bass that you will NEVER experience from a pre recording
Anyhoo..... just thought I'd mention the Yellow Banzai amps incase there are any KORG Kaossilator fans on the forum.
Here is my humble rig:
