Freshly modded today! I have a few stock V2's kicking about and didn't have much work on so thought I'd revamp one of them with a view to selling it.
Cosmetically it is in pretty much "MINT" condition with original packaging and instructions etc..... let's just say, if you had bought this as a "NEW" amp you wouldn't find much difference between this and a new amp.
Internally it is a bit different to a stock amp.... I have fitted more capacitance in the power section (courtesy of Panasonic FC / 1500uF) so the reservoir is now a lot larger.... an additional 5,000uF of capacitance!.... I have also fitted UF4001 (Ultrafast) diodes and have uprated the 470uF film cap to a 1uF WIMA MKS4 (1uF) ....
The mainboard has been fitted out with high temp Samwha VA (130c rated) caps, MUSE non polar coupling caps (1000uF at the output which ensures ideal frequency extension when using either high or low Z 'phones).... these really do compliment the V2 beautifully, the Nichicon MUSE are wonderfully organic sounding to my ears.
I have also fitted ceramic valve (tube) bases, Jalco "pro" headphone socket, hand matched ALPS potentiometer, new quad gold plated phono sockets and a blue LED....
The icing on the cake is a pair of matched 6N23P-EB military grade Russian valves (matched for transconductance, gain, current) which I selected from my vast 6N23P-EB stash and matched a perfect pair on my Tube Imp analyser.....
Sooooo.... effectively, what is on sale here is an iconic "classic" with a brand new operating system.... I am more than confident to provide a 5 year warranty to the buyer.... this amp has been fitted with the best quality parts and they are good to go for a MINIMUM of 5 years
