I have recently taken delivery of a batch of Chinese miltary 6N11 (J) valves from the 1980's (all unused, all from same sealed military box) they are Chinese equivalents of the 6922 / E88CC and have chromed pins. Very nice build quality and the "J" painted on top of the valve denotes they are built to military standards. I have tested the entire batch on my Tube Imp and they are all as fresh as a daisy with very good transconductance results and excellent gain matching per side. I have never really entered into the world of "Chinese" valves but must say these have been a real ear opener for me. I had a listen to them in an X-CAN V2 and an X-CAN V3 and my jaw pretty much dropped to the floor when I heard the bass response! If you like the "tubey" sound then these will NOT disappoint. They are quite a bit more rounded than the Russians and the sonics are lush and mellifluous.... not everyone's cup of tea but classic examples of the "tubey" sound that so many people love. This is not a sales pitch, those of you who know me know that I collect valves and I am not trying to "punt" them out.... I am "laying" a good few boxes down like some people "lay" crates of port down the theory being that one day the world's supply will run out and I will become a valve Baron I will put 20 of these up for sale, should anybody be interested, and a matched pair will be £20 GBP.
