I am in search of a new player for my computer and have downloaded a lot of different players the last months.. I wanted something free and was a bit tired of Itunes not playing all formats and keeping two HD with different versions of the same songs..
Foobar, Amarok, winamp etc. etc.
Last weekend I tried downloading "songbird" and it is really promising, it plays all I throw at it, it sounds the same as all the other players and have most of the features from Itunes that I have come to like, it even does "smartlist" which I really missed in the other players..
It also have a "browser" buildt in which provides you with links to Wikki, a tab with youtube videos and a tab that makes a photo slideshow about the artists..
Lot of other cool things are also implemented in the player, but I have not yet become familiar with the yet..
Have others here been using this player ??

Yes I have tried them all. (except Amaraok)
They all play well but I found (on a slow laptop under XP) with VERY large media libraries only Winamp could cope. Songbird did very well upto a certain amount of songs in the library. Above a certain amount of files search got very slow. I have to say this was about 3 years ago. They might have solved this by now or it could be the fault of it running on a very slow laptop.
It played only MP3 so little PC speed is needed.
