I guess some members here would just make their own. However, for those who use 'store bought' variety ICs to an Xcan, especially from a CD player, which IC do you find gives you a good compromise between warmth (if a bit dull) and detailed (if a bit bright) or ideally, of course merely 'neutral' ?
I've tried the following:
1, TaraLabs Spectrum 3A -very detailed, but ends up in too much glare 2, Kimber pre-power IC I got 20 years ago. I'm a big fan of Kimber speaker cable. This used as an IC sounds a bit detailed, but flat. 3, Audioquest Ruby. Like the Kimber was quite expensive 20 years ago (200 NZD). The least detailed, but a good tight lower end that verges on warm (ie bloomy) . My 'default' IC.
Incidentally, am using a Rotel RCD-06 CD player
Cheers~

John, I am very partial to the IC's made by Blue Jean Cables at about $35 USD a set. However since you are over the pond I am not sure if it would make sense for you to order from the USA.

I like their style, zero snake oil, sensible pricing and reasons for why they use what they do. Nice.

I have a couple of their balanced XLR cables between my pre and power amps. Very happy with them.
