Regards, Alan Hi Alan sounds interesting what have you got in mind. take care

Guys, I modified the Musiland 01 US before I started the Hiface mods - if anybody is interested, I'll dig out the details?

Sure I'm interested John though most probably those mods are beyond my skills with the iron. Still it'll be nice to read what you did (pics?) and how it improved things.

Hi great great grandpa, I had forgoten you were building a speed demon . I'm also for bigger cases, my two home PCs - one for movies another for music and general purpose - have big fat ugly black cases with plenty of spaice and air circulation to compensate for the lack of fans. The HTPC has 8 x 1TB discs and the other one 4 x 500GB 2.5" drives in noise eliminating and heat dissipating enclosures like these: Motherboard is Asus P7D55E-Pro with a Core i7 860 (music) and Core i5 540 for HTPC, power is in both cases a very quiet Seasonic 400W PS Make sure you get the latest drivers from Asus (V1794) or Braibit's Unixonars to get the most out of your Xonar in ASIO mode. Skip the one's in the CD that came with the card, they are outdated.

Hi Javier, when your one and a half year old grandson's first words are "Papa" you realise just how "great" that is. Was just about to load Asus drivers and had forgotten about your tip on the Unixonars so thanks for jogging me in the right direction. I like the sound of those 8 x 1TB discs but it'll take me a while to fund one let alone 8. No home theatre here just combo do everything PC. I suppose there'l be a little "home theatre" here, when SWMBO realises what I've spent. Ah well! if it's worth having we can stand the flack. So SQ wise onward and upward. Regards, Alan

Hi Alan,
I really, really hope it'll take quite long till I have any grandson, my oldest is 12.
Internal 1TB drives are quite cheap now but I didn't get them all at once, it has been a slow process. Last ones were less than 90€ a piece.
If you need any help in getting W7 running and optimizing just ask.

Hi Javier, when your first grandson arrives, you'll then know just how grand that is. When I first had a stab at W7 some time ago it was a right pita...............but then I was attempting to install it on my "Musirassic PC" had it going for a few months till I installed Fidelizer and it all went pear shaped so went back to XP for a quieter life . W7 is doing all I would want of it...........just get all my progs on then attempt the optimisation. If I need help we all on RG know just who to turn to. Had a minor hitch with the Asus Xonar DS card not being recognised but moved it to another slot and we have sweet music once more. Next up is an additional HDD 1TB would be nice...........perhaps Santa. Regards, Alan

Update on the 02 software.
I have returned to the 727 software, after much head scratching, i have found the control panel volume control to be very unstable on 026, it has to be set at just the right position to avoid clipping, which, when set produces very good results.
However, it has a mind of its own on my computer, and just changes position without any input from me, completely at random during playback.
727, is completely stable on my computer, once set, remains so and also gives excellent results.
No more messing from now on!!! Well at least not till 027 arrives ;D
Mick.

No more messing from now on!!! Well at least not till 027 arrives ;D Mick. Mick, the version number is the release date so almost a year to go before they could release 20121027. Besides, except in some XP systems 1026 has been very stable and well performing according to Musiland's forum members so it could take a while before they change it anyway.

OK Javier,
I have been careful not to blame the latest software provided by musiland, as i have stated before my computer is, in computer terms ancient, albeit 100% reliable.
It runs with very outdated components,( although these were top draw and cost a fortune when purchased). However as you know this will soon be rectified with the purchase of a new all singing and dancing model (64bit W7 im sorry to say, but then all new models seem to come with pre-loaded 64bit, without option of 32 bit, which for my use would be preferable.
Mick.

I'm sure you'll be very very happy with you new PC once you get used to the different interface though W7 can be easily changed to look very similar to XP (up to a certain point). The increase in performance will be quite big even in every day tasks.

Yes Javier,
By all accounts W7 works very well, i have Vista on my laptop, and to be quiet honest i prefer the XP on my desktop to that.
If i get any problems with the change over i will let you know.
Regards Mick.

Javier takes one for the team, again!
Me? Still a bit nervous: I've got 1026 to work, but I always get an error message on PC boot-up, because it looks like two examples of MyCon.exe want to run (I've just got into the habit of clicking the resulting error message to get rid of it).

Installation went smooth, no probs whatsoever. A few "Mute" buttons have been added to the UI, can't see anything else new. As to sound... no way to compare to previuos so I can't comment, it sounds as great as ever.

New Beta drivers changelog (Google translated from Chinese):
1, attempt to resolve Cubase can not use ASIO , please verify the majority of users 2, to solve number problems silent, 01 USD more common in this issue 3, "digital" and "simulation" mute button to add the perfect upgrade step
So nothing particulary interesting aside from the new mute buttons I mentioned in my previous post.

Thanks, Javier. Think I'll wait for the final (i.e., not beta) version.
I'm impressed that Musiland still work on their drivers, especially given that those of us here who went for the Aune Mini APE have been left in the lurch, with no further refinements for its firmware. Crash test dummies, indeed!

Another beta released today so a step closer to final version. I've installed them without any issues but can't see any thing different to previous beta.
Cheers

Damn! Downloaded the previous version (1222) but hadn't got round to installing it, now there's another one already.
I hope we're not in for a repeat of what happened in October, with near-daily amendments!
Felicitaciones de Navidad, Javier!
