I've had a couple of hundred 6N23P-EB in 4 sealed factory boxes (50 in each) kicking about for a few years now and have decided to put some of them up for sale.
Inside each box of fifty there are 50 valves in individual cartons and also 50 data sheets, all of which are signed and stamped with the OTK marking (I will take photos tomorrow).
The "EB" versions are military grade and last a lot longer in service than the standard 6N23P.... chrome pins, heavy duty construction, they are real beauties!
These have been sealed in their factory boxes since the day they were made so are genuine NOS (not these things that are sold "loose" and you have no idea where they have been or if they have been used!) Truly magnificent sound.
I will take some photos tomorrow and if anyone is interested in a pair please contact me.
Mike.

Is it correct that those type of valves also work with the 500mA wallwarts or is a Little Pinkie mandatory? I'll calculate how much valves fit into my budget as soon as I know the price for a pair. I'm also thinking of getting a few other parts from you. BTW: I've read that you make also Little Pinkies that work with the Neco Mosfet V2. I have two Mosfet V2's but I'm also thinking of getting one for my X-Can V2. Most likely I'll buy only one in the next few months. It's going to be a hard decision for me... I'll have to ask Neco about future Mosfet amps because I'd like to know if a Little Pinkie for a Mosfet V2 will also work with newer versions of the amp. I'm almost sure that I'd buy future Mosfet amps from him. I like those amps and they are the best solid-state amps in my current amp armory. All the best, Christian

Nice, sold on yours "Accessories Page" /Johan No no.... I only sell the 6N1P-EB (which require a meaty PSU as their heater current is double that of the 6H23N) or the 6H23N / JAN Philips 6922 (ALL from factory boxes, same date codes etc.). I have been holding on to the 6H23N-EB for a few years as they have continued to increase in price year on year, These are the real McCoy and NOT 6H23N-EB which have been pulled out of old equipment and are being sold as "NOS" all over the net..... these were made, put in cartons and then boxed.... that is where they have lived all their life! Each box of 50 comes with 50 "signed" spec sheets. Production date of all 4 boxes is January 1990 so they are relatively young @ 21 years old. Double supported getter, chrome pins and closed plates. Built like tanks, these are uber long life, military spec valves. They were built by Voshod at the Kaluga Radiovalve Plant, Russia. Christian.... these are perfect with the 500mA MF "wallwart".... it's the 6N1P-EB that require a meatier supply.... the 6H23N-EB are drop in replacements for E88CC / 6922 and sound like heaven The light is pretty poor but these pics will give you an idea......

WOW, I like those Russians! I don't really understand why they don't produce such high-quality tubes anymore in Russia today. The Russians have (or had) also quite a lot of other high-quality products (and I don't mean only Kalashnikov rifles).

I am so close to order a pair.
Any opinions how these differ from regular 6h23p valves in sound?

I am so close to order a pair. Any opinions how these differ from regular 6h23p valves in sound? I replaced a couple of 6H23N with these 6H23N-EB last week in one of my X-CAN V2's, there is a definite improvement in sound quality. Whether or not it is down to the "newness" of the 6H23N-EB or the construction I am not sure.... the first 30 minutes I wasn't too impressed but once they had been heated for an hour or so (from new) all I can say is WOW! The most noticeable areas of improvement (to my ears) were in the bass department (deeper, tighter, faster), the mids (macro detail a lot more prominent, easier to focus in on), the highs (much smoother, not as ragged as the 6H23N can be)...... another area I homed in on instantly is the added "air" around instruments, instead of them all being on the same plane crammed together they are now dancing in the air and it is easier to pick out the individual components in the mix as they have "space" around them. These are, by far, the best valves I have heard in an X-CAN V2 and to pay mega bucks for Mullards / amperex etc. seems daft.... I don't think there is ONE pair of Mullard E88CC (for example) or one pair of Amperex bugle boys on sale that are "GENUINE" NOS (new old stock - Brand new but never used) all of the examples I have come across are either fakes or pulls (pulled out of old equipment)..... the 6H23N-EB I have ARE genuine NOS from sealed factory boxes so when you fire one of these puppies up it will be the first time they have glowed

Anyone wondering how these valves sound, well i can tell you that in my Mikes moded V3+Little Pinkie, Senn250`s they are fantastic, I was previously using some vintage (1969) Russians that i purchased form Mike, they were nice but these are in a different league. Astounding base, superb mids, and the highs are sublime, and the sound stage is to die for. If your thinking about these, i think you can guess that i can highly recommend them, to put it mildly i am truly shocked as to how good these sound, totally transformed my V3 which has been neglected for some time. Thank you Mike, you have come up with something remarkable with these, in fact i will be wanting another pair please.

As this is my first post here so greetings to everyone. I've been reading you for some years, first unregistered and since april, when I decided that it finally time for some modding, I registered this account. I really wished you had opened this thread 1day before because I ordered my 6N23P's on the 26th from an e-bay guy in Germany. I would have prefered to buy them from Mike a thousand times over. Got them yesterday and the look exactly as advertised ( cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200558846855&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_3652wt_1140). I put them on on my V1 and they not only work fine but also sound much better than the original JAN 6922's they replaced. As they did not come in their boxes like Mike ones do, maybe they are not NOS as adertised (or even maybe fakes) but at least to my unexperienced eyes they looked quite new both on the outside (no scratches or signs of wear) and the inside plus they sound very good, and that is with just a few hours of use. This has been the first mod I've done to my X-Cans but after the improvement in sound quality I heared it certainly won't be the last. Even mores so after re reading the full 20 pages of the MF sub forum. I'll do it step by step because money is a little tight at the moment.

I can tell just by looking at them that they are genuine so don't worry Fakes are usually based around Mullard / Amperex / Seimens etc.... I have only, once, come across a dodgy russian valve and that is where the seller removed all the markings and then remarked them claiming they were all same date code from same batch.... the moment they arrived I could smell a rat so I sent the entire batch back! on a few of them you could see the original date codes (very faintly) under the rather clumsy attempt they made of painting on new date codes

I'm really glad to hear that, I was a little worried. Thanks Mike.
Do the cap/diode/opamp mods provide the same boost in SQ or are they more subtle?

Depending on the condition of the caps it could be a substantial boost. Even if the caps are in good shape the upgrade is well worth it, IMO.

Mine arrived yesterday.. Thanks Mike .. They've only had a few hours running time so far but I noticed a definite improvement over the 6H23N's that Mike fitted when he modded my X-CAN v2 last year. Better and more controlled bass, a top end that is smoother, more detailed and with lower distortion than before (I didn't realise that there was distortion until I heard these tubes). A soundstage that is more "real" than before with detail that has instruments and voices almost etched in place with air around them. Some problem recordings sound really nice with these. I had a set of Beethoven Symphonies by David Zinman that sounded a bit thin and somewhat brittle before. Now the strings have body with a full sound and individual instruments that were masked by a kind of unpleasant sheen can now be heard clearly. The remastered Beatles albums have some problem tracks that now sound very good indeed. Massed vocals on some tracks used to have a slight glassy sound. Now the individual voices can be heard more clearly. I thought the X-CAN v2 sounded pretty good after Mike's mods. These tubes are gorgeous and show how good the mods really are. They are worth every penny! It's going to be interesting to hear how they sound after a 100 hours or so. Thanks again Mike for yet more audio orgasms!

Glad you like them Chris The pair in my V2 have had a couple of hundred hours on them now and they sound as sweet as a nut, absolutely gorgeous. I've decided only to sell 50 of them and keep the other three boxes of 50 in a safe place for another couple of years.... these really are special and the best, by far, I have ever heard in an X-CAN.

Yep! Just after an hour of listen I can really tell the difference! Definitely more punch on a bass department. More 3d and dimensional sound. WOW! Oh man, these are really worth it! And they have just been on for an hour! What after they burn in?! All I just want to do anymore is to listen music! Bye bye all my social life! Oh no, I have to go to work tomorrow. Noooo, I don't want to! I want to sit here on my sofa with headphones on for a F***ing week! Crap. All I ever wanted to improve in the sound of 6h23n was that punch. I f***in' have it now! It's here! Punch in da house! More than a punch! But first of all PUNCH! Bang boom slam!

Hell, life is too short and holding on to boxes of unopened valves is just plain GREEDY.... to what end? (I ask myself), I'll be kicking up the daisies and these bloody things will probably end up in a dustbin somewhere..... nope, time to release them from their boxes.... party time is NOW!

I just ordered some Russian 6H23Ps from you for 22 pounds based on the picture on the accessories page (rocket logo). Which ones was that quote for?
In other news, I had just opened my second hand V3 and came here to report that it didn't have the stock phillips 6922s but... a pair of 6N23P-EBs! Mine have what I think is the Reflektor plant logo above the number and the "OTK" and diamond are in silver not pink like the ones you have pictured above.
I thought I remembered reading that the rocket logo Voskhods were supposed to be better?
