I'll try to put that rubber mat under the Sonata CD30: First I need to get some kind of rack for the CD30 and a couple of my headamps. I need to know what dimension that rack has before I cut the rubber mat. The rubber mat was quite cheap (11.90CHF for a 60x60x1,5 cm rubber mat made of recycled rubber). It's originally intended to be placed under washing machines. It's not only about damping but also/more about a good stand. The mat has a good grip. I'll have to be careful while cutting. It's rather strong and thick. If have problems cutting it with the Stanley cutter, then I'll have to find another way.

Christian you might find that rubber will make the sound more boomy, forward and fatiguing after listening for a while I did something similar a long time ago when what hifi suggested using squash balls under your equipment, this just made the sound forward, boomy and it wrecked the overall timing of the music, it was the biggest load of shite i have ever heard in my life, considering a pack of squash balls cost me £10. Now some people might like this type of sound (teenagers), but it wasnt my cup of tea. paddy

I don't expect it to make a big difference in SQ. If it has a negative effect, I'll forget it.
It's a cheap recycling rubber mat and it's probably the last money that I will spend on damping – at least if there's no positive difference in SQ.
I'm already satisfied with the rubber mat if it gives me a good stand for the CD player and I'm sure that I'll find another use for the rubber mat otherwise.
Probably the hints from Alex for modifying the SMPS will make a much bigger difference in SQ.
I must admit that I'd be quite suprised if there would be a difference in SQ when using the rubber mat. I have also some 5mm thick PE foam. I'll try that too.

It is designed for deadening car panels etc. for audio installations. Alex www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AX3680&keywords=sound+absorb&form=KEYWORD

Currently, I'm listening to a couple of old Trance CD's. I've never heard them like I do now. The SQ with the Sonata CD30 V2 and my X-Can V3 is absolutely amazing.
The old recordings are crystal clear. Very good stuff.
Thanks to everyone that made this possible.
I'm tempted to hunt some other old CD's from that era (Trance from the 90's).

No. But I'll do that after I have decided how to place the CD player finally. I'm still searching for kind of desktop rack. The free space on my desk has decreased while the devices on it have multiplied...
