Hi,
I've got an original X-cans V1, which has worked fine for years.
All of a sudden the sound has become awful.....left channel worse than the right channel. Left channel is really badly distorted, right channel is very quiet.
I've swapped the valves around out of morbid curiosity and sure enough the distortion gets swapped to the right channel instead.
I'm assuming the valves need replacing......but could it be anything else ?
Any help / advice appreciated
Thanks

I've bought a used V1 but sold it later to Mike since it had similar problems to yours. Mine had the old stock tubes in it and a few blown or dry caps. Because almost every V1 have been used for years, it's very likely that your V1 also needs replacement of the tubes and of the caps. Maybe there are also other minor problems. I decided to sell my V1 to Mike. He modded it completely with top-notch replacement components and sold it to Miguel afterwards. AFAIK Miguel likes that amp. You can check your amp for blown/bloated caps. Tube replacement is very easy, but I'm almost sure that a few of the used Jamicon caps need to be replaced.

All the best, Mike.

Gents,
Thanks for your advice - I'll try the valves as a starter for 10.
Would you recommend 6922 valves over the 6H23P's ?

That is a very open ended question since there are so many tubes of each. Only your ears can truly decide, for now I would buy an inexpensive set of matched valves to get the amp going. Good luck
