Some say you should, some say there is no need with preamp tubes.
How about you guys? Is there need for such thing as gloves?
I have not used any gloves while changing tubes, but am a bit worried, should I?

No, there is no need to sport a pair of gloves when removing a valve... these things were designed to be used in military equipment and can withstand many G's of force so you aren't going to damage them with your fingers

I meant does those fingerprints and oils from your skin affect tube somehow?
Am I nuts?

If the glass bottles were halogen bulbs I would recommend gloves. Fingerprints/grease on halogen bulbs makes the (special) glass of these lamps not expand in the same speed/way as the parts of glass where there are no fingerprints. This causes halogen bulbs to tear/break.
NO chance this will happen to normal tubes as: a: the temperatures are not that high. b: the temperatures do not rise fast enough.
Glass is inert to most substances. That's why most bottles are made of glass.

I wear those when printing black and white photos while handling negatives. Dust is easier to remove then fingerprints in this case.
Doing this with LP's is kind of anal.

I remember the wearing of gloves being recommended by Roksan while handling their platters/belts/pullies.
Anyone else remember their installation guide for the original Xerxes ;D

Back when I had a turntable, I didn't actually have a Roksan Xerxes, I auditioned both the Xerxes and the Linn Sondek LP12. The Xerxes was a little too dry, the LP12 a little too warm, so I bought a Voyd "The Voyd", which was like baby bear's porridge, just right.

After the Persian king of course. Mr Touraj Moghaddam is very into history from his part of the world and has used it as an excellent source of names for his products. Roksan = Daughter of Darius Xerxes = Persian King Tabriz = city in Azerbaijan Shiraz = city in Iran Artemiz = Ancient Greek deity Nima = Persian poet Caspian = The Caspian sea Darius = King Darius, father of Xerxes Strangely "Roksan" was the only one I couldn't remember and to look it up, I also couldn't find Ojan.
